Should Corbett gym be revamped? If so, how. I like the size compared to the school, but it could do for some updating. All the engineering graduates we have, someone should be able to come up with a nice vision using the same space.

After I started this I saw this topic was already mentioned in the General Thread.
But what are everyone elses thoughts. I think its good, but just replace those top bleachers. Maybe add a couple of replay flat panels to generate some revenue and give the dawg pound something else to booooo at when they replay a bad call. I've seen some arenas actually add one in each corner instead of a big huge one in the middle.

Demolish??? That is out of the quetion!!! A few changes yes! That was just to get everyone's attention. You actually cant demolish it with the other stuff that it houses beyond basketball. Facilities has been a topic on here lately, but I dont see where that plays a factor at A&T. Facilities are pretty up-to-parr minus a few upgrades here and there.

Speaking of facilities, we are severely land locked. There are no fields on campus for regular students at all. Holland bowl has been it every since Aggie Stadium was built and before. Since we have already compromised some of the "The Farm" for the Millenium Campus, why not move one of the major sports venues (Football or Basketball) to a portion of land on the farm. It could have easy access from 85 and have space for parking.

A&T owns a lot more land near the farm on McConnell Rd. that has not been developed yet, so I am told. Does anyone know the "skinny' on this? If you go to A&T's website and look under construction you will see a map of future land acquisition. Maybe in 20 years we might have enough land adjacent to campus to build new facilities.

Demolish it and build a new arena..........................lol, 20 years from now. Start a building fund like a lot of black churches There will come a time to seriously plan for a new arena. I just hope the decision-makers and the influential alumni give themselves a lot of time to plan it out correctly so once you build the arena it won't be obsolete as soon as the last brick is laid.

Oh, by the way, before Williams cafeteria was built, there was an empty field there where we use to play intramural softball. I remmber one time the Alfa Phi Omega's rented a helicopter and landed it on that field during hell week, I believe. One of their people made this grand exit from the copter while the pledge's stood on their plot waiting to go over. It was 30 years ago so I might have some of the details wrong but there was a helicopter involved.

I wouldn’t be in favor of moving any of the venues off campus. That would take away from the atmosphere of the games and the feel of the campus. In college athletics, nothing beats playing a game on your own campus where the alums can come back and reminisce with their kids and such.
As for Corbett, it’s a large enough building but those 4 columns pretty much screw up any major changes that could be made. They could get rid of those bleachers and add chairs or just chair backs. I would like to see A&T build a basketball only arena in the area that they are trying to take over near Salem Street. Nothing real big…around 5-8 thousand seats…dome shaped building…..call it the Aggie Dome.
Dreams.

The topic is moot since we aint got no money to do either. How much think giant flat panels are going for these days? They can afford it if they want it. If restaurants like Champs can put 9 panels together to make one huge one then A&T can do the same thing. At $1000 a panel thats $9000. Tell me A&T aint got that.

i think we need a standalone "corbett renovation fundraising campaign". i don't have a lot of money but i'd be the first to contribute what i could if it happened. the aggie club and victory club should continue doing what they do. but a corbett renovation fundraising campaign could be solely earmarked for that purpose alone and i think our alumni would be willing to donate funds.
remember, you may have heard this first from oleschoolaggie! we're a year or two away from having the second or third worse basketball facility in the meac! (not to mention how we'll rank against all d1 schools) and if we don't act soon, we'll fall further and further behind our meac competition. in my opinion, only scsu and bcu will have worse basketball facilities than ours.
if carolina can "completely" renovate carmichael auditorium just for women's basketball and at the same time modernize and maintain the dean dome, the least we could do is renovate our "primary" basketball facility.
