wow! i respect your lineup and dang, we're in more trouble than i thought! eaves will have to bring marc hill off the bench, he's too small to have in the lineup when alston's on the court. wilson hasn't shown me very much, so i hope one of the recruits (maybe simpson or joshua) can start at the 2 and remove wilson. both simpson and joshua are listed at 6'2" which is adequate size for a d1 shooting guard. johnson showed me some promise in the 2nd game against wssu. i think he's gonna be okay. i like alston, i think it hurt him to have rush and ewing on the roster, they took a lot of playing time from him. i've got confidence in alston. ej was very impressive at times and invisible at others. he just needs to be more consistent. coleman, he's the man. he needs to get a lot stronger this summer and work on his shooting mechanics. he'll be our mvp next season and yes, he'll have to play the 5. man, we've got our work cut out for us this coming season. i think we'll finish somewhere between the 4th and 8th seeds.
now for the women? can't wait to see them play! especially since batwoman and robin are no longer at coppin. anything less than a regular season and tournament championship will be a disappointment. we're loaded! but we've got to significantly improve our interior game in terms of size. i love the entire team but my favorite is lamona smalley. her energy is infectious!

I hope the girls learned something from that USC beatdown. We were a better team than what we showed in that game.

I'm not even worried about the girls at this point. As long as the same coaching staff is there, we won't have any problems. But the guys are in serious trouble. I really respect your posts because they are well thought out and extremely rational, but isn't 4-8 a bit aggressive? Look at the in experience on that lineup. Coleman will be a star before he leaves, but I hate that I didn't see him create his own shot not even once last year. Think about it, they were all dunks from passess and put backs. Good solid coaching will improve that, but you know what I think about that. Inexperienced guard play on any level automatically spells trouble. Keep in mind that one of Eaves' biggest flaws is that he likes to play a lot of people. Who will come off the bench? A lot of weight will be put on the freshman's shoulders and that rarely ever turns out good. We really need like 2-3 of these new recruits to be studs. Even with that being said, our veterans that were studs weren't able to flourish in the system. But I have to agree with Decks' five. I really don't think it can be any other way. lol

Even with that being said, our veterans that were studs weren't able to flourish in the system. But I have to agree with Decks' five. I really don't think it can be any other way. lol i agree with most of what you said except i don’t think its necessary for coleman to be able to create his own shot. at 6’10” he has the size to be a true center and he doesn’t seem to have the desire to be a modern day post player with guard skills. to me that’s very refreshing and if i’m his coach i’d be turning flips because that kind of attitude is hard to find. as long as he can consistently knock down the jumper from 15 to 17 feet on in, he’ll be fine. i’d rather see him perfect his inside game with more jump hooks and turnaround jumpers. he needs better footwork, he could learn a thing or two from tim duncan. if he adds strength this summer, no one in the meac will stop him in the paint and we already know he blocks shots as well as anyone. i picked us finishing 4-8 because morgan loss several key players and so did norfolk. hampton is having coach and personnel problems, pilgrim has already indicated he’s transferring and more may follow. so anything can happen next year, we’re not the only ones hit hard by graduation and/or transfers. if ej can be as consistent as rush was and if iohnson can step up the way he did against winston, all is not doomed for the blue and gold. regarding eaves, we get what we pay for. in my opinion, he’s done a good job considering the cards we dealt him. we gave him an arena that’s rapidly becoming one of the most outdated in the meac, we gave him a program that won a grand total of 1 single game the year before he arrived, we gave him one of the smallest budgets in the meac and we’re complaining about the coach? all eaves has done with the cards he was dealt was; 1. rebuilt our program from scratch with a minimum budget. 2. positioned us to contend for a championship the last 2 years in a row. 3. upset two major d1 schools (depaul and smu) the last 2 seasons (great for PR). 4. our program is on stable grounds for the first time since curtis hunter was hired. sure, eaves has room for plenty of improvement but we get what we pay for. this is his first head coaching job ever, we knew that before we hired him. you can’t expect him to be as savy as fang, bozeman, or jackson, they’ve been head coaching much longer than he has. in my eyes, considering the cards we dealt him and our prior knowledge that he has never been a head coach, he has clearly met expectations. what were we expecting? dominance of the meac? i’ve said it before, coaches that succeed at a&t are extraordinary coaches. how many hayes and bibbs do you know out there? other than those two, when was the last time we’ve won an meac championship in football or basketball? if anyone thinks any coach can win at a&t, i’d suggest they check our history. so leave eaves alone, if someone else can do a better job we should have hired him. its not my job to hire the coaches, its my job to support them, and i support all aggie coaches 100%! by the way, big props goes out to my homegirl softball coach mamie jones for the job she’s done with our softball team!

Alston or Marc Hill Ed Jones Thomas Coleman Robert Johnson Brock Moorman
I'm convinced that Moorman could effectively play pf. This would give Eaves a very athletic team that he seems to like.

Yeah I've found out additional info on him:
Nicknamed "The Beast". Gotta love that name! The adjective you hear applied to him most often is tough. Played mostly with his back to the basket as a necesity on a team that didn't have a lot of talent. According to him he has the ability to play the 2,3 or 4 position in college. Most of the players he was compared to signed major D-I or mid major offers. He's coming to A&T with a little chip on his shoulder because he felt like the big boys made a mistake by passing on him. In the state playoffs he was a force against some of the best players in the state. the best thing is this kid may still be growing. At the beginning of the 2007 season to the end of the 2008 season he went from 6'4.5" to 6'6"".

I think with the exception of the five spot, this might be our best recruiting class in Eave's tenure. He has what both the Scouting Report and Rivals.Com agree are three legit blue chip athletes with Marc Hill at the point, Nic Simpson at the two guard and now Brock Moorman at the three swing slot, all top ten playes in their states and regions. Duane Joshua is a one of the better post up outside shooters coming out of junior college, 53 percent from the three circle and 83 percent from the foul line.
I just hope that he mixes them well with a really good sophomore class with a proven Coleman at center, Johnson and Shepard at the four spots, Alston at the point and more seasoned vets like Ed Jones and Nick Wlison for inside help.
Proper combinations and a real commitment to working a deeper team system rather than "the senioritis" mind set will be the difference between a 19-20 plus win top division season and .500 middle of the pack finish.

I've gotta agree. Eaves is great. I just left a tournament not too long ago and everyone was talking about how knowledgeable his staff is. I fully support him.
Where do you think we'll finish this year with this super solid roster?
