I don't think that Mel (health issues) has been w/us all year. but doesn't mel do the play-by-play calls? everytime i've been in greensboro this year for a game i hear the same voice i've always heard doing the play-by-play. and if mel is retiring, who's gonna take his place? whoever does our webcast play-by-play would be a good candidate in my opinion. and speaking of webcasts, this year has been the best "quality" of webcasts i've seen on aggie access. also, our athletics and main university websites have "tremendously" improved! i have to give dr. martin a lot of credit! i can literally see the difference he's made since taking over our chancellor's job. i think he definitely has us moving in the right direction. great job, dr. martin!

Let's hope that this is the last year for that radio crew. They suck...always have and always will.

DO we not have a Journalism and Mass Communications Department full of great students that would kill to have this type of experience on their resume..

Okay, it looks like the football and both basketball teams are back on track. When are we going to fix the other teams. I know baseball, volley ball and tennis don't make any money but could we at least put money on them so they don't suck. And if we aren't going to try to win just stop posting the scores anywhere.

ibleedblue, sorry for the confusion but the main heading for this section was "firing squad" so I figured I'd take a few shots at the other A&T teams. I still hope we get a new radio broadcast team this year but until the first football game, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Okay, now that we are 2 and 0, Kindle is back on the team, and we are off the NCAA siht list, it's time to bring up a touchy subject...game announcers! I will not take any more of your time explaining how bad these guys are and there's no bebating this point. So while we are celebrating the great victories let's not forget that one of our greatest marketing tools, broadcasting our games to the Greensboro market is being left to the worst radio crew in the college football.
We've spent lots of time on this site debating how to increase game attendance, well here's a place to start...radio announcers that make the game exciting to the public. I'm not saying that hundreds of fans will show up over night if these guys are replaced but in time it will improve the game day experience.

FYI I was at practice one day last week and Spencer was out also . A young gentleman came up and Spencer told him this was his 49th year and he would like to do one more after this one and retire after 50 years , just saying .

I'm sorry but enough is enough. This isn't personal, it's business and these guys are hurting the A&T football business. If the football sucked as bad would we just wait until the coach decided to leave? Heck, if the band sucked as bad as these guys would we just wait until the band director decieded to leave? Heck no! These guys have been bad too darn long...A&T has given them plenty of time and it time to move on.

My brothers called me from Ohio and said that they can deal with Spencer without any major problem but Billy Covington was like a anchor around the neck of a drowing man with all his second guessing the coaches, his constant doom and gloom and not really knowing anything about how the game is actually played to make an intelligent statement.
Interesting observation and comments.

Hey I don't want to start evaluating talent...the whole radio crew needs to "retire" now and let some professional announcers handle it.
Folks, we are a major university, we are ranked among some of the top academic institutions in the nation, we have had alumni that have reached the highest levels in government, academia and business, we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on our sports program and we have Amos and Andy announcing our football games. Let me be perfectly clear...this radio crew is costing us money. They are not promoting the game. If you listen to a few minutes of the show you would assume one thing...A&T isn't serious about it's football program.
What sadden me about Aggie One's comment is that somebody in Ohio could actually hear this broadcast. I was hoping no one beyond High Point would be subjected to this awful performance. Will someone at the University grow a set and can these guys?

Boy, when Spencer said the FAMU extra point went right down the middle to win the game for FAMU and it actually went wide left. That personifies our broadcast team
