Boy, when Spencer said the FAMU extra point went right down the middle to win the game for FAMU and it actually went wide left. That personifies our broadcast team Hey bluehaze, I'm amazed that you could listen the whole game to those guys. But we have a bigger problem than our awful radio announcer so I will wait until next year when we have a decent team. No one but a truly die-hard A&T football fan would actually listen to those guys on WNAA during a game so they only impact a few dozen fans.

I couldn't catch the end of the last drive and the missed extra point, but I caught the OT. They weren't unbearable, and they are to be respected. But I do think it will be time to transition within the next 1-2 years.

I respect Ted Cruz but I wouldn't waste 10 seconds listening to him. Hey I get it, these guys have been a big part to the A&T football family for a long time. I know they will be upset if asked to give up the show. I know A&T will have to hire "professionals" to replace them and that will cost money- money we really don't have now. I get it. But eventually someone has got to make a "business decision" about game broadcasts. Broadcasting games on the radio has two advantages...advertising revenue and game promotions. I don't think this crew does us any good on either of these issues. I believe this broadcast hurts A&T's "brand."
I respect anyone that has dedicated their life to supporting A&T...to a point. When that "support" starts taking away from the University's image, them that's when I believe it becomes "selfish." I know no one at A&T wants to tackle this issue head on so I guess we will have to endure a few more years with this broadcast team.

In fact, everyone on the west side the stadium thought that the PAT was good, too. After seeing it on TV, the kick barely missed...but it DID miss "wide left." (Both PATs looked good from my vantage point.) FAMU has the worse visiting radio accommodations in the entire conference...second only to Howard.

2014 will be Spencer Gwynn's 50th season BROADCASTING AGGIE FOOTBALL. That is truly amazing. No matter whether you love or hate the job that he does, he is our own Aggie treasure and I pray that all of AggieNation will honor him next season in the "grandest" way.We did a half-decent job in honoring Cal Irvin and Don Corbett, but we did not honor former head football coach and AD Dr. William "Big Bill" Bell and long-time SID Richard Moore appropriately for their decades of service to Ayantee Athletics...let's not let that happen to Spencer Gwynn (and Thomas Bynum).

I have to say that I've listened to those guys for a lot of years, and although I have been a little frustrated waiting on score, or have to do math to figure where the ball is on the field or who has it... I have looked forward to their broadcast, managed to ignore mistakes and removed all instincts to be critical of them afterwards. On Saturday, I bought the 1 game broadcast from FAMU and I tried to turn their announcers down (their announcers were horrible), and listen to WNAA as I watched the game, but the radio feed was about 30-45 seconds ahead of the web feed, so I was forced to listen to those home biased clowns. Personally I find it much harder to listen to the announcers that broadcast other schools (they make me sick) they're not that good either. Our guys may be like a blast from the past, but I guess I'm used to them and their ways, and have enjoyed them.

Just because FAMu has some bozos calling the game doesn't mean we have to listen to amos and andy on our game. Just hire some professional announcers and shut this conversation down.

After 50 years Spencer would have been run off if everyone thought he was that bad. The fact is no body spends a lot of time even caring about this subject. I have complained in the past but I have also become accustom to Spencer's voice as that of A&T football. Spencer has never been the cause of A&T winning or losing a game, so letting him finish out 50 years of service (free) is fine with me. Back in the beginning it was just Spencer and Mel, Billy came along just a few years ago. I get satisfaction knowing that they all love A&T just as all of us do.

Said what I had to say, still like the professional guys that we have now, but I am sure that I will listen to whoever does the games...

i watched the famu game over the internet and i actually thought that famu’s announcers were pretty decent. i also listened to our radio announcers for a good portion of the dsu game and they sounded a little bit better than in the past as if they’ve heard some of our criticism and are trying to improve.
but what i’ve suggested in the past is that we retain our current crew as color commentators but hire a new professional sounding “play-by-play” guy. that way, we can keep those familiar voices in the booth and at the same time have a professional sounding play-by-play guy calling the game. seems to me that suggestion would appeal to those who’d like to see our current crew replaced and also appeal to those who’d like to keep them around...

OSA that sounds like a good compromise to me. They would be a big help to a play by play guy, and everything else that you said. My question to you is; didn't you notice that the description of each play (FAMU game) appear biased and much different that what you saw on your screen?

In all honesty, EVERYBODY'S home radio broadcasters are going to seem biased...as they probably should. NETWORK broadcasters are not supposed to be biased, but your home radio flagship station broadcasters are going to lean toward the home team and their fans and not be middle-of-the-road. Haven't you ever listened to a MLB game's local broadcasters (like the Dodgers' Vin Scully or the Cubs' late Harry Carey)...they are biased as hell and don't apologize for it.
Anyway, I hope that Spencer stays on-the-air, in one capacity or another, as long as he wants to.

Considering that Spencer & Company are not paid by the University, I think that they are doing us a tremendous service by bringing the games into our homes. My biggest complaint is not having a "Rod Broadway Show" and a "Cy Alexander Show" on television (or just on the internet via the athletics department's website).
FYI, FAMU the Rattler Boosters are paying host Keith Miles' production company $75,000 annually to broadcast the football games on radio and to produce and host the football coach's TV show.
