This was a good game. We missed waaayyy too many free throws. Had we made half of the ones we missed we could have won the game. Also we had waaayyy too many turnovers and lazy passess. The refs didnt help either. Coleman is a really good player!
OH the ladies Aggies looked really good! NSU was no match for them!

The refs didnt help either. Coleman is a really good player! Unfortunately, that was our "Modus Operandi" last season which also included rebounding. Hopefully, the team will "rebound" from this loss and really take it to our conference foes in January and finish strong in late February.

A&T will begin to understand that they are no longer a secret. The MEAC teams are going be up for the Aggies. They will have to play defense a lot better and pass a lot better. One major deficency for the Aggies is not stopping the opposing dribbler on the change of possession once he crosses the half court line and comes near the 'top of the key'. The Aggies' long passes were awful and the turnovers late in the game were due to the Aggies not being able to move the ball around. Rush's shots just wouldn't fall either.
Tav Alston and Coleman played a very good game. Coleman was a recruiting 'steal for the Aggies. 'It was the top three seniors that didn't come through. There is still a of basketball left.
The Aggies fans took over NSU gym. It embarrassed the NSU students so bad that it energized them to cheer for their team and it became a competition of cheering between the two sides. Even though the gym was not filled it was the best atmosphere NSU has seen since Hampton and A&T played them last year. This series may turn into a big rivalry. I think this year A&T will be everyone's rival.

Damn, did we have injuries or something? Giving up 82 points is an awful lot against a conference foe. That has to get fixed quick. Hampton and Morgan will be here before we know it. Whew. About 10 points came on free throws late in the game.

Typical Eaves team. Capable of beating anyone in the conference and just as capable of losing to anyone in the conference.

Eaves' team really worked hard over the summer and in the fall from what I am told and they are in good conditioning shape. My question is did they just play basketball among themselves and not against other college players over the summer?
The Aggies will need to improve running their plays and shooting better with guys bumping them. The Aggies also have to learn to keep sight of the man they are guarding when the ball is not in their area.
I read in Tidewater's local paper this morning that quoted Eaves as saying "That's the first time in my five years I can honestly say we were out-worked. Norfolk State just played so much harder than us. They deserved to win." Eaves added "There will definitely be some changes to the starting lineup. This will be retified"

AggieJazz, I agree with your analysis; missed freethrows, lack of defense intensity especially on the perimeter on the break (stop the damn ball), casual passing (just to many turn-over for a very veteran backcourt and team). This is not a championship team as currently configured. We can't depend on these guards night in and night out. These guards needs open sets, there are unlikely to create their own shots off the dribble. But they did have some nice dribble penetration moves for assist and lay-ups. But often result in going to the line. It appears to me that the low post offense is more consistent and with greater abundance of talent. In the second we went to it and had NSU in the bonus at about the 12 minute mark, but couldn't hit the front end of the 1&1.
Though this is a disappointing loss this is a well balanced team in talent by position and hopefully will get better and play better together.

I agree that our big men are away from the basket; however Eaves likes playing that way. Ultimately it is his decision; I just hope the team will stop the ball on defense by half court. That was something we didn't do against Tennessee and it showed again against Norfolk. Hopefully he will go back to that high intensity defense he ran his first year here; it was one of the best defenses in the conference (even ncaa).

Well I went to New York this past Saturday to see Hampton BEAT DOWN Howard in the Big Apple Classic (my wife's a Hampton alum) and Hampton plays defense...good defense too. They really got after Howard from the opening whistle and were VERY INTENSE. I hope that Eaves is going to be able and ready to get those young men geared and ready to go.
