The Aggies are not in a position to let this opportunity go by if there is a possibility of getting Swinton and he is a big upgrade in talent for the Aggies. There are currently six players returning next year who are 6’-6” or better. Three of the players will be gone after next season, Chaplin, Wills and Gregg, all three are 6’-6”. The other three still need to get better so they can get more playing time and they are Porter, 6’-9”, Webster 6’-10” and Johnson, 6’-6”. Porter and Webster are projects and may stay that way. This leaves you with the two new comers who will have a year at A&T come 2008-2009 season but you will lose Ed Jones at the end of 2008-2009 along with Porter and Webster. If Swinton is a major upgrade to what A&T already have in the frontline then I say sign him and let him sit for a year. You sure as hell are going to need Swinton when 2008-2009 season comes around because 7 of your top eight or nine players will be gone. Those seven are Rush, Wills, Ewing, Chaplin, Nelson, Hernandez and Gregg. The difficult task of making this happen is determining if certain players should keep their scholarships. The renewal of scholarships is a sensitive area that is best left to the headcoach. Amen to the last paragraph....

Besides Rush, nobody on this team should be guaranteed a scholarship.

I don't see A&T as a fall back, I see A&T as another option. Sometimes your first choice just doesn't workout.

Unfortunately it's what he see's A&T as that will determine whether he gives us a look. Hopefully Eaves and Co. (if they're even interested) will promote us as another option as opposed to promoting us as a fallback.

Maybe some of the homeboys like S. Rush can convince him to come to "T".

With the addition of Jones and Shepherd the need shifts from a player like Swinton to another (hopefully bigger) SG. Plus a non-playing scholarship is a terrible waste of money at this point in time. If he wants to sit out on his own nickel, swing those doors open, otherwise find me a 6-5 shooting guard that can play "D".

Getting Swinton would do more for the program than just add a player, it would add a name local player from the top basketball h.s. ( not prep) school in the state. It can only help A&T in the future w/ other recruits. It is not like you have not had $$$$ in players sitting out before ( Wilson, Booker, Guions) . I have to believe there are creative ways to make this happen if Eaves has an interest.

We took a chance on Steve rush transferring and sitting out a year. He went from averaging 9.6 at unc asheville to 17.2 at A&T. Why not take a chance on Kevin Swinton a least he will go to class unlike some other players in the past. Hell, we had a player transfer this past season in Patrick Gregg and he was eligible for the last 6 games of the season. That is a waste of the scholarship for the year. He will basically be a player for one season which will be next year. We need to stop making excuses and go after these players. He has two years left of eligibility and is a local kid.

We take a chance on every player we sign. But what sense does it make sign another marginal 6-7 front court player when you just signed two and five move already on the roster (Gregg, Wilson, Johnson, Chaplin & Wills). The need has shifted from the front court, to the back court. Go look at the roster and tell me who is gonna play guard after next season. This dude is a want, we need a 6-5 shooting guard that can play defense now. This dude ain’t a marquee magnet that’s gonna bring Greensboro players to A&T.

That kid is gonna wait til the white schools (App, Western Carolina, Any Big South) come running and if they don't, he will "consider" A&T. Aggie 77 you are correct, this dude ain't no marquee magnet...
