What got me to A&T was the atmosphere at the basketball home game. I visted A&T while in high school and I went to a basketball game. Way before I heard the New Orleans Saints fans chant "Who Dat!" on TV, I heard it from the A&T students: when an opposing player would try to scrap with an Aggie player and the referrees would step in and the students would chant "Who dat, who dat, who dat tryin' to be bad, whoof! whoof!". They had all kinds of chants in the early 80's for different situations on the floor. There were chants to an opposing player like "You, you, your mama, too" from the guys and the girls in their high voice would follow with "and your daddy!"; also you "ain't sh*t!" chant with the cheerleaders doing a hard split to accent the chant on the last word. Or the whole gym would say in unison "Aw, sitdown!" to the opposing coach who was arguing a call. When the "Camaron Crazies" started getting pumped-up on ESPN and I said to myself the TV audiences ain't heard nothing like the Aggies at their home games.  |

We had chants back then that would have gotten us kicked off of ESPN. Chants like "the aggies run this m--her F--ker hell yea"or "get your coat your brim and get the f--k out our gym"(Moore Gym). This chant was used when we knew we had the game won.

OK CORBETT GYM HAD FANS IN IT BEFORE HE GOT HERE, ALSO HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR US WINNING AT HOME I DON'T THINK SO. STUDENTS COME 2 GAME REGARDLESS SO HE NEEDS TO RETHINK DAT STATEMENT

obviously aggiepaul youre a rookie.. cause that was a totally idiotic statement.. you have posted the stupidest thing that has been put on here in a while.....!!! jeeeeez... from what i saw the brother took no credit for anything other than being fortunate enough to have good fans and good students to make the atomsphere what it is... Maybe you should read before you get on an adult message board.. ( and take the damn caps off.. act like you know how to post a message on a board)

Remember when the ncaa had just put in the rule that stopped the pep band from playing while the game was in progress. They would tell the band to stop playing or the team would get a tech..... and the band pulled kazoos..... and said " we don't need no music cause what we're going do is party down and party hard and play our skyzoos"..... and started playing them!!! Now that's when we had a pep band..... you couldn't make them stop playing!!!!

Then the next game when the refs warned the pep band..... everybody pulled out kazoos and started playing them after the chant!!!! Standing room only baaabie..... Corbett was the place to be....." be there or be square"!!!! Aggiemarketingman do you think we could have a homecoming during B'Ball season also.... say like MLK weekend or the Feb. 1 wk as was suggested in the paper?  It could be called something else but just have all the homecoming festivities to go with it? |

It could be called something else but just have all the homecoming festivities to go with it? Thursday night game against NCCU and Saturday afternoon game against WSSU. Friday and Saturday night entertainment. It's a winner guaranteed. |

I think that would be an excellent idea, however that decision would have to be made by someone in a higher salary grade than me. But i think it would be a great idea... and a huge event..
