The podcast comments about the WBB WNIT games which they attended were interesting. They also have to remember it's the post-season. The women's regular season games were not attended well I wonder how our attendance stacks up against CAA attendance for both men & women. Expect we're top 3 or 4 in both. We'll be able to do some SWAC comparisons next season as the SWAC is partially splitting their men's and women's games (Women - Thur & Sat, Men - Sat & Mon).

I think this is another example of thinking that PWC ice is colder. How many FCS teams in general have crowds that are engaged when the stadium is half empty and the football action on the field is subpar? Surely none of the teams in the Big South. Outside of Delaware, none of the teams in the CAA had a great home field advantage either. You are 100% correct. But they just don't have the crowds period to do anything. We actually have the crowd numbers for most games. We are always top of FCS in attendance. This is another case of revisionist history and thinking the grass is always greener in PWC land. We had 5 home games last year. - The first game was Central. The students and alumni were very engaged on that night, despite the offense doing absolutely nothing.
- The second game was Villanova. We only had 8,000 people at that game and we lost by two touchdowns. What kind of crowd engagement do you expect to occur in that situation?
- The third game was Richmond. The box scores shows 0 people attended that contest but I was there and I remember the stadium being about 30 percent full. Probably the same crowd as Villanova ... and we had 37 yards passing. What kind of crowd engagement do you expect to occur in that situation?
- The 4th game was GHOE. Great crowd engagement - just like the NCCU game.
- The 5th and final home game was Campbell. We probably had the fewest fans in attendance of any home game all season. What kind of crowd engagement do you expect to occur in that situation?
This has nothing to do with black culture. When the stadium is packed and the product on the field is good, we have the same type of crowd engagement as any FCS school in the nation. I can promise you we had better crowd engagement than any other school that went 1-10 last year.

personally, fan engagement is waaaaaaaaaay down on my totem pole of a&t football "priorities". of all seasons, i couldn't give a dayum about fan engagement after going 1-10 last year. matter fact, fan engagement is waaaaaaaaaay down on my totem pole of a&t football "priorities", period.
"nothing" hurt me more last year than going 1-10. lack of fan engagement didn't even occur to me, didn't even move my needle. i dunno, maybe its because i've been directly involved in athletics all my life. but the way i was coached, we "NEVER, EVER" discussed the fans or the band or the cheerleaders or the alums. football is a "brutal" sport and that's where my focus is. winning games is the only thing i care about this season.
the coaches and players should be spending every minute of their offseason figuring out how to get much better results than last season. that's where the priority should be particularly for the coaches and players, not the fans...

btw, its okay for the fans to care cuz they are not "football players". also, there was a time when i was told that a&t had a male student to female student ratio of 1 to 1 (primarily because our engineering and technology schools). whereas, other hbcu's like nccu and wssu had (i was told, no proof) had a ratio of 20 or more females to 1 male.
reason i bring that up is because often its the females who cheer more than the guys. at least, that's what i see whenever we play nccu or wssu...

Just because they aren't winning I don't think we should be dismissive of the concerns of our student athletes

I dont think anyone here has been dismissive of student athletes' concerns.
Some blame the lack of fan engagement at A&T football games as just being a byproduct of black culture. I am showing you that makes no sense.
A&T fans are more engaged that other FCS fans in similar circumstances.
If A&T has a near sold-out crowd, the atmosphere is always electric. (See the Elon game in 2019).
If A&T doesn't have a lot of people in the stands and the team in losing, the atmosphere is usually boring - just like other FCS stadiums.
Does Elon have more crowd engagement than us? How about Campbell? Or Richmond? Or William & Mary? Towson? Maine?
Where?
This paragon of great fan support does not exist.

The answer is yes W&M does, New Hampshire does and maybe Maine

W&M is winning now. If they were 1-10 about five people would be in their stadium. New Hampshire and Maine both averaged less fans than we did last year: fan engagement and attendance are two separate things. You can have 2000 people and they can be more engaged than 10000. High attendance does not equal fan engagement.

That must have been around 1928 when A&T first became co-ed. Because by 1940 A&T's female to male ratio was 6 to 1 female to male and ballooned to twice that because of the war and with the addition of other female friendly education disciplines under Dr Bluford . My great aunt has a picture of her and Eleanor Roosevelt when she visited A&T in 1945 Aunt Murdy's senior year. She stated that there were more females on campus at that time than males mostly because of the wars and draft. So it's logical that there would be less females on a&t's campus prior to the 40s because A&T was mostly an Agricultural and Technology minded Institution, and less of a liberal arts and Education Institution like Teachers,Bennett and Central & most HBCU institutions of that period in time. But you are correct females are more engaging and animated than males at games. Even when they have no idea what is happening on the field. The way to go maybe it's through the female student body population.

Maine has a 10,000 seat stadium and they averaged about 5,000 fans. That stadium was half empty and the team finished 2-9 last year. So yeah, I am sure that place was rocking all season. lol

I can promise you we had better crowd engagement than any other school that went 1-10 last year. Few things: 1. As opposed to "absolutely nothing" our offense scored 1 TD. 2. We lost to Villanova 37-14. That's more than 2 TDs...actually 3 TDs plus 2 pts. 3. I expect more than what we typically give in terms of what the players talked about (noise on 3rd down, etc.). We had no idea what was going to happen by the end of the game in terms of passing yards. So at the beginning and into the game we can have better fan engagement...at least. 4. I would say our fan engagement at GHOE wasn't all that good either. Bunch of people there though. You seem to be mixing attendance with engagement. 5. See #3. 6. Black culture DOES have a part to do with it. 7. I'm gonna GUARANTEE you that PWI crowds are better (sometimes much better) engaged than our crowds are...especially when their venue is packed and the product on the field is good. Maybe you haven't seen what happens at NDSU and Montana...as starts. 8. It's not a good look to call someone out for revisioning but then do ones own revisioning. #CmonMan
