However, talking with administrators at a few different schools, it’s clear the CAA and most of its members preferred better linear local TV coverage opportunities over more convenient national streaming access. “People will hate Flo but that’s mainly because the schools do a bad job with the broadcast,” one school administrator said. “The money allows the conference to have a great hoops package with CBS Sports and allows the schools to get games on local linear networks, which is huge for revenue income and local exposure. Our games go to 15.5 million homes in the #1 and #4 media markets in the US. ESPN offers mid-major conferences a fraction of the rights fee and severely limits the amount of linear broadcasts allowed.” Another school administrator added, “ Schools want the opportunity to use regional cable for games, which ESPN stream only wants games exclusively.”herosports.com/fcs-caa-football-stay-flosports-bzbz/

ESPN2 is in 45Million homes yet the SWAC championship game had 250K viewers. A high number of subscribers does not mean those subscribers will watch the games. ESPN + and ESPN 2 are two different streaming platforms.

Like I stated before FloSports it's basically more conclusive for the larger medium markets and most of those on the East Coast are in the North East 1. New York 3. Philadelphia 8.Boston and 9.DC . The larger the media Market are more opportunities to bid for streaming services. So what was the payout to the streaming services that streamed our games and what was the overall Revenue that we received from those games.

ESPN + and ESPN 2 are two different streaming platforms. I understand, my point doesnt change...just because home availability is there doesn't mean people are watching. The same could be said about FloSports. Can we not agree that flow Sports is better for larger media markets then it is for the smaller markets, that is my point . Why pay for a subscription for CBS Sports and FloSports all in the same year ? I only pay for ESPN Plus because all the other ESPN streaming platforms are included in my sling package.

CBSSN is included in basic cable by some carriers, ESPNU is at an additional cost by some carriers too. ESPNU nor CBSSN is a part of my Spectrum's basic cable package. Cable providers with CBSSN included in basic package. CBS Sports Network channel on DirecTV and XfinityDirecTV Channel: 221 Xfinity Channel: 1303 However, fans also have another option thanks to FuboTV, which carries the CBSSN channel. CBSSN is also carried on Youtube TV in the basic package. Flo Sports is the only streaming service for CAA games... Basic payout is ~ $100K annually, additional research must be done on pay per viewer aspect of the agreement.

I do not pay for ESPN streaming platforms and ESPNU is not included in Spectrum basic cable package. ESPNU isnt included in Slings basic packages either, you must purchase the Sports extra package to get ESPNU...$11 a month. Flo will be better once we get a linear TV deal. CBSSN is a good deal for those that have it included in their basic cable package. CAA is receiving ~ $2.5M a yr for streaming rights only vs SWAC receiving $775K for ESPN to stream and broadcast games on tv. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNh2Tnm_2r4&t=1884s

People think because you have the availability to viewers , that they are going to watch your game.
The viewship numbers don't lie. But again ESPN plus is so great lol

Flo will be better once we get a linear TV deal. I thought we had something like that last year, but evidently it fell through. We had Brian Holloway on our show before the NCCU game, but the school never said anything else about it.

I sent Mr Speight an email regarding a linear broadcast idea.

Hey Oleschool, Did you know that Hampton’s AD told the Pirateship Podcast team that they get paid per Viewer? Is that proof enough or should someone here ask their AD or Earl? I’m curious to learn your level of proof needed.

Point of clarification: people have to pay a monthly sub for ESPN+ on top of any Cable fees they pay to get the ESPN cable channels on their cable boxes.
