CAA Ranks Among Nation's Top Conferences In Latest NCAA APR Ratings 6/4/2024 Rob Washburn RICHMOND, Va. (June 4, 2024) – CAA student-athletes continue to rank among the best in the nation in the classroom in addition to their success on the field and court. The CAA was tied for sixth among the nation’s 32 Division I conferences in the latest overall Academic Progress Rate for the 2022-23 academic year, which was released by the NCAA on Tuesday. CAA schools achieved a combined APR of 989, which was well above the national average of 984. The APR included data from the 2019-20 academic year through the 2022-23 academic year. caasports.com/news/2024/6/4/football-caa-ranks-among-nations-top-conferences-in-latest-ncaa-apr-ratings.aspx

We would fit right in if we were in the MEAC, Southland, or SWAC, But we are not in those conferences. The Southland Conference has always been a borderline conference since the APR. They only care about winning championships. The SWAC is just the SWAC you can think what you want. This is an embarrassment plain and simple and using other conferences to justify it being anything other it's just that it's embarrassing and nonsensical. I guess when moving from the meac to the big s*** and then to the CAA we forgot to check the box that says we have to stay above the APR minimum. I hope that Ross not only turns his team around but also get these young men back in the classroom to strengthen our APR. The only team in the CAA with an APR sanction that's embarrassing as hell.

Did Ross address the issue at the AAF meeting Monday night? Did he identify the recruiting class for 2024-2025? Could not stay, just time to leave my check.

He did. He understood when he took over that this would most likely be the case after year one. This would be a one and done situation and we will be definitely back on the positive side next go round.
The biggest thing he put on the front burner for the program going forward is the recruitment of kids with the right frame of mind for academics first and stay away from "vagabond" transfers - guys at multiple schools in multiple years.
The reduction sanctions would have little if any impact on us since we never utilized the max allowable practice hours anyway. The team study regiment he runs doesn't allow for it anyway.

And it's refreshing to hear. Our 1st job is to educate and develop (scholastically) the young men we bring into our program
