After becoming the first commit in head coach Penny Hardaway’s 2023 class, it’s safe to say Forrest is no longer a secret. Forrest chose Memphis over Arizona State, Virginia Commonwealth, Missouri State and Illinois-Chicago, among others. The cousin of Tigers assistant coach Shawn Forrest, he’s the No. 37 shooting guard in the country and the No. 8 player in Missouri according to 247Sports. Though it took some time, Armstrong wasn’t surprised when he saw schools begin to take notice of Forrest and extend offers this summer. Arizona State was first. Then, it was VCU. Later, Illinois-Chicago, North Carolina A&T, Missouri State and Purdue Fort Wayne got in the mix. dailymemphian.com/Email/Article/31488/ArticleEmail/0?token=PG1IYl964E2nW0iQnx3w5g%3D%3D

He’s had some pretty good eyes on him, and he’s legit D1 talent, as opposed to the fringe guys the program is used to working with. He was going to Memphis, but they ended up going with another guard over him so he went to a really good lowmajor NW State team. He’s had heavy interest from NC State coming out of prep school & even after decomitting from Memphis I believe. Had offers from Oral Roberts & a couple of other mid majors too. Him & Landon probably have some ties too, both from Arkansas
I have a lot of faith in this coaching regime’s scouting & development potential when it comes to recruits, more than I can remember in some years

Happy to see the portal giveth to us for a change after a year of taketh away.
The backcourt has suddenly gotten deeper with a lot more scoring options available going into next season with Glasper, Forest, Brown (redshirt), McKie, and Shell.
The acid test is to solidify our frontcourt with more rebounding and defensive presence down in low.

Did Ryan Forrester get hurt or injured? I don't see any stats after December 2023 and there was a huge drop-off in performance. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/5105332/ryan-forrestUnless we get rid of players, I feel we are building up depth in the wrong area. We need much better 3-pt shooters and bigs that can command the middle defensively and finish consistently around the basket. Also, please be able to shoot free-throws.

we already have decent 3 point shooters in glasper, shell, and mckie. all 3 of them knocked down better than 30% of their 3 point shots and so did the "greek freak". remember last season we ran out of "quality guards" when glasper and shell went down? if we had had a forrester and a qua brown last season, we would not have missed a beat. in other words, you can never have enuf "quality guards".
bigs are much harder to come by than guards. when our entire team was healthy (including murphy), our team was very "competitive". assuming murphy returns healthy next season along with a 6'9" 260lbs transfer post player from arizona state in will felton, that would give us formidable presence in the paint without having to play murphy to death. plus, the "greek freak" is also 6'9" tall. plug him in at the "4" and we're looking at a very decent front court.
could we use some better players? of course we could but every team can say that. maybe its just me, but by no means am i in "panic mode". no one really believed me early in the season when i stated that we had a decent team despite being so "young". but i was proven to be correct. so i'm here again saying that we "already" have enuf talent on our team (assuming everyone returns and remains healthy) to finish in the upper half of the conference. it wouldn't shock me if we finished as high as 4th out of 13 teams...

Something happened and no mention of him being off the team after the 1st semester....
