Obviously, you never know how things will work out but this group of incoming freshmen, looks on paper, as if they will be able to contribute right away. Especially Griffin,Jessup and Howard. The loss of both Acox and Davis could allow for a veteran or two transferees to fill out the roster.Shooters have to be a priority.

We need a "box office" player. We haven't had one in a long time. We have a roster of "very good" players.

C’coreia Foy was on her way to being that before the ACL tear

Also, what is your definition of box office? 1st or 2nd team CAA, or lead the conference in points, steals, assists, etc? I would like a little more detail surrounding your comment. At this point, I have no opinion for or against your post, just curious.

Amber Calvin (2009-2013) was a "box office" type player to me. she's one of my all time favorite lady aggies along with the other amber (amber bland) as well as btj (brittanie taylor-james). all of them were coach bibbs recruits. and of course we can't leave out tweet cooke. over the last 15 years or so, our women's basketball program has been our most "consistent and successful" athletic program. shoot, i remember when fobbs was in the midst of losing 27 football games in a row and during that era hunter and eaves were producing "near winless" men's basketball teams, volleyball was also "near winless", so was men's and women's tennis. our overall athletic department was hands down "the worst" in the meac at that time. but the only "championship contenders" we had was women's basketball. thank gawd dr. martin eventually stepped in to "overhaul" our athletic department and turned things around "dramatically"...

Yes, Amber was the last in my mind. And Beatdowns Unlimited had several like the other Amber, Tweet, BTJ. Scott and Foy were close but not quite. Ask yourself, "Who would I go to the game just to see how they are going to go off that night?"

In this NIL and Transfer portal era, it's going to be tough for us to get or keep the type of superstar player you guys are dreaming about. I'd like to have a player of that caliber but more realistic, I'd just like to see us get 2 or 3 players that can more consistently hit 3-point shots and 15-foot jumpers. If we had 2 or 3 players that could actually shoot, they would be our superstars.

Please Stop this " Box Office " player referencing. We have had great players over the years. Some of them have made the players around them Elevate their in game play , that is what great players do .
What we do need is a player or a few crunch time players that can dominate and direct the in game flow and activities, but yet keep their teammates involved down the stretch.
Iowa's Clark is that type of player not only with her shooting and shot selection but with her passing and ability to keep her teammates involved and playing with motion and emotion on both ends of the floor. Another good example was the guard for South Carolina although she didn't score a lot of points but she controlled both the offensive and defensive flow of the game for her team, and kept her teammates Focus on the game at hand. That is what we need more than this so-called "Box Office" whatever.
You need a good to great player with all of the above characteristics that can make other good to great players Elevate their potential.

not speaking for maxell, but i don't think he "literally" meant box office as in a player who sells out arenas and drives up tv ratings akin to clark. at least i didn't receive it that way. my own impression of "box office" at our level would be a player who can "take over a game", get you a bucket at any given time (especially crutch time) by creating her own shot. that "to me" is a box office player (at our level).
to find one, "rarely" would that be a true freshman. we'd probably have to search the transfer portal for that type of player who could step in "immediately" with the ability to score buckets almost at will. me personally, i think we will have as good a chance this offseason as any offseason we've had to sign that type of player because of how our season ended this year. meaning, our "strong" conference showing along with 22 wins, 2 postseason wins, and a downright "off the hook" clubcorbett electric atmosphere. those things are attractive to recruits.
given the outcome of this past season, i think we'll have an excellent chance of grabbing a so called "box office" player...
