Aggie women hope to prove preseason CAA coaches' poll wrong

In its first year in the Coastal Athletic Association, the league’s coaches decided North Carolina A&T would do no better than ninth in the conference race in women’s basketball. The Aggies proved the coaches wrong, finishing with an 18-12 mark overall which included a 12-6 record in the CAA, good enough for a tie for fourth.
When the coaches cast their ballots to predict the current season, they apparently dismissed the strong showing by A&T in the previous season and picked it to finish eighth. Suffice it to say, that didn’t sit well. In fact, that bee is still buzzing in the team’s collective bonnet.
“But it’s why you play the game and that’s why, as a coach, I use that to fuel our young women,” said A&T coach Tarrell Robinson, who played for the men’s basketball team at the school and became a graduate assistant before taking over the women’s program.
“During the recruiting process, we talked about coming in and win a championship, hanging banners, things that we have done, and we use this to motivate them because we’re back in that same situation,” Robinson said. “So, we want to finish the job now.”
