The Pep Band brings a great deal to the basketball games. I love their enthusiasm.

I was surprised that the pep band was not in attendance last night for the WNIT game. Why? It's Easter Weekend. School was closed on Friday.

Was Easter Weekend for the cheerleaders too? They were there.

Was Easter Weekend for the cheerleaders too? They were there. And that was a combo of both squads. Because (gasp) kids went home for Easter.

I agree with Bornthrilla. Even though I don't know the reason why the pep band was there I hope the excuse of Easter was not it. This was an important game and there should always be all hands on deck. When stuff like that happens it has the appearance of no Synergy that we really desperately need more of.
I did hear that the pep band turned in instruments earlier in the week. I am sure they are tired because of the long marching band and pep band season. Congratulations to the band for everything they have done this 2023- 2024 season but dang it sucks they were not present for this last game.
I have more stuff to say on this but I rather speak from facts that I know vs emotional/ personal outtakes.

So if A&T was in the NCAA Sweet 16 this Easter weekend, are you telling me the pep band still wouldn't be there?
Of course they would. This is why the Easter excuse makes no sense.
North Carolina State had a women's tournament game Friday night and their pep band was in attendance.

Hopefully next time.

You know the band doesn't support athletics...lol

It just harps back to what I said about synergy. If we had strong leadership in our athletic department this wouldn't even be a discussion.
Imagine if the NCSU band geeks said they were going to miss the tournament because of Easter.

I disagree, NC State band understand their role and reason behind existence. A&T band believes the show revolves around them. The BGMM does not mention A&T athletics on their site at all, NC State focuses on supporting athletics. BGMM and its cult like followers believe they are more important than athletics. www.ncat.edu/campus-life/student-affairs/departments/blue-and-gold-marching-machine/index.phpBLUE & GOLD MARCHING MACHINE As one of the premier bands in the nation, the Blue and Gold Marching Machine is synonymous with high stepping performances, precise drills, powerful, yet melodic sounds, and energy! As the premier band of North Carolina and ranking high among the top HBCU Marching Bands, the Blue & Gold Marching Machine of NC A&T State University is a force to be reckoned with! Under the leadership of visionary, Dr. Kenneth Ruff, “The Blue and Gold Machine” brings crowds of fans to their feet year after year. The hard work of band members has lead to numerous recognitions such as winners of the Honda Battle of The Bands, the 2003 Defeat the Beat Champions, official band of the Carolina Panthers NFL franchise, the lead band for the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and a top 10 band as reported by Sports Illustrated. performingartstech.dasa.ncsu.edu/perform/groups/athletic-bands/The marching band and pep band provide the soundtrack to the NC State game day experience for our student-athletes and fans. Marching Band (MUS 131) The Power Sound of the South® represents NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium and beyond. Active in the fall semester during football season, the marching band performs at all home and select away games, as well as other campus events, parades and occasional tours. It includes brass and woodwinds, drumline, color guard, dance team and twirlers. With more than 300 members, “the world’s most dangerous marching band” is a favorite of Wolfpack fans and a beloved part of the NC State experience. Varsity Band (MUS 132) Active during the late fall and spring semesters during basketball season, the Varsity Band, known as the pep band, performs at all home games for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams and accompanies the teams to any post-season tournament games. They also occasionally perform for other athletic teams and campus events. The pep band, like the marching band, is an essential part of the NC State experience. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Melody C. Pierce, Ph.D. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs This VC needs to understand and explain to Dr Ruff that BGMM is there to support athletics...that is their #1 priority.

I could be wrong, but I believe the pep band and the BGMM are considered two different entities.
I don't think Dr. Ruff manages the pep band.

He creates the drill designs for the marching band and is responsible for organizing and planning the band program.

Hold up; didn't the pep band perform recently at an ACC tournament event?
There is no reason they should miss a home tournament game if they were able to perform this postseason at someone else's event.
