I don't give a damn if we were playing the Lakers we should not be shooting that bad.
There are 700,000 basketball players in America and we still can't find good shooters and Big Men.

I don't give a damn if we were playing the Lakers we should not be shooting that bad. There are 700,000 basketball players in America and we still can't find good shooters and Big Men. Welcome to my frustration! How long have I been saying this to the extent that some of our fellow brethren here became exasperated with me! It's hard to fathom HOW and WHERE we are finding these guys who have difficulties shooting, boxing out, rebounding, and match the energy and physicality of the opposition. I don't know how many high school, JuCo, and college/portal guys are out there, but we MUST get some players in here-EXPEDITIOUSLY, and we don't have to fly to Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, every province in Canada, GEORGIA (the state), Alabama, Montana, and Middle of Nowhere, Mississippi to sign dudes who visibly are not D1 basketball players. If you're watching the game, the announcers (obviously on the UVa payroll) made a slick comment to the extent of: "Hey! Whaddaya know! The Aggies shoot another 3 but made it this time!" Embarrassing.

Man, I am from way back in da day when we were known for basketball nationally. The guys we have now and the past few years would not have made the team and if they did they would not get any playing time.
We might as well have kept the coach from last year because ain't nothing changed. This is a disgrace to have this caliber of talent on the DI level.
We are at best a low tier Division II team.
Keep telling people we need to hire a new AD and clean house in the administrative athletic department.
We are a joke athletically.

Our sports information department summed it up quite nicely in this paragraph: "The Aggies dropped to 0-3, with two losses against ACC competition. UVa improved to 3-0. Landon Glasper led the Aggies with 18 points, knocking down 5 of his 11 3-point attempts. He was the only Aggie in double figures. The Cavaliers benefited from a massive advantage in the post, out-rebounding A&T 42-24, outscoring them 15-2 in second-chance points and had a 40-10 advantage in scoring in the paint." This line, plus the woefully egregious 3pt shooting percentage, encapsulate our issues quite well. I don't know if you watched the game, but I have to go back to the commentators. They were UVa guys, and although they clowned us (our lack of size, experience, difficulty shooting the ball, difficulty in rebounding, and lack of size again), they actually were quite complimentary of Coach Ross, the potential for the future after suffering through this first year (which I believe we will), and how the Aggies never quit. There may be brighter days ahead for the two major revenue sports on the yard. Until those days arrive, don't sleep on bowling, women's basketball (if they can overcome these injuries), track and field, and baseball!

Yeah i know about bowling, ping pong, volleyball and putt putt but what i am talking about is major sports.
Even though Ross is new it is still a disgrace to have players of this caliber. Other schools have new coaches and I am willing to bet they have some shooters and rebounders on the team.
Ross had ample time from the day he was hired to get some height and better shooters.
Will give him time to build (1.5 years) but he got to get some real Division I players here.
Hint, Hint: Cal Irvin and Big House went north to the playgrounds and other venues to get great talent.

To be fair, times have changed dramatically since Cal and Big House. Even since Corbett.
That being typed, we (as in the school) haven't supported most of the programs at a decent division I level. Of course, in the past we didn't have to because as a member of the MEAC, nobody did. Now we're in a conference where most of the programs do and have supported their programs at a proper level and we need to follow suit.
We're waaaay behind in funding and infrastructure. Can't blame the coach for that. I don't know the behind the scenes that led to us barely recruiting anybody with any size, but considering we had similar issues recruiting some beef on the d-line in football, I'm not sure exactly how much I can blame the new coaches at this point.
We have systemic issues that hopefully Ross (and Brown for that matter) can help us identify and fix.

the issue with this team was very predictable even before the season started. in a nutshell, we're "VERY YOUNG, INEXPERIENCED, and LACK POST PLAYERS". even stevie wonder can see that. add to that, we have an entire new coaching staff who has never coached these guys before and essentially none of the players have played organized team ball together before. that's a recipe' for a very unsuccessful season.
given those facts, you cannot expect this team to be competitive this season particularly against major d1 teams like pitt and uva. we're also gonna struggle against almost our entire schedule this season because we don't have any cupcakes on the schedule and even most lowmajor and midmajor teams have more experience, size, and long-term coaching than we do.
however, the good news is that we do have some good "YOUNG" talent but they're not ready to excel at this level "yet". unfortunately, none of our "YOUNG" talent are post players. so during the offseason, it is "imperative" that coach ross sign some legit "post players" and preferably "experienced" post players. if i were coach ross, i'd be "overdosing" on the transfer portal looking for experienced post players.
the thing about basketball (unlike football), you can add a couple of major impact players to the team that could completely turn your season around. we're gonna take our lumps this season, but our rebuilding process doesn't have to be "long-term"...

Excuses. Excuses. Excuses
We ain't gone never have teams because some fans give our coaches passes for any and every reason.
Damn, in basketball you only need 14 or so players and out of 700,000 available players in America alone we can't find 14.
Come on, I don't expect us to win a championship this year, but damn recruit some real DI players.
Same as last year. Same story Same results.

Yes we may be lacking in funding, infrastructure and support from the powers to be but that should not hamper our coaches for "going north" as previous winning coaches did to recruit top talent. They can even go South, East or West but go somewhere and beat the bushes to find talent. It may be old style but it can work again if implemented. Ain't got nothing to lose because the present system ain't working. Hell gas is high but not that high. They need to get off of their butts and hit the bushes.
