Haven't witnessed a drop off that big since Bell Biv Devoe released their second album "Hootie Mack".

Discipline, discipline, discipline and the kids have bought in. I'm looking forward to Thursday. We are undermanned, but I believe we are going to put a good product out on the field.
On another note, UAB has a very inexperienced coaching staff

That will get the Wine & Cheese reserve section off their feet lol, i resent that!! not everybody in the reserve section is a part of the Wine & Cheese crowd... shoot, folk in section "u" where i sit still often ask me why i don't bring my "cowbell" to the games anymore. they're not a part of the Wine & Cheese crowd either...

Coach Brown really seems like he has the pulse of his team right now. He's not showing any favoritism based on seniority which is great to see. A lot of freshman are gonna get some playing time which bodes well for next year and beyond.
The only thing I didn't get down with is the expectation on the season. The whole, "it doesn't matter what the outcome of the games are for this week and next" is not gonna go well after the Central game if we don't show up at home. That outcome of that game should always matter, and should be prerequisite on the job application. He will need to clean that statement up a bit.

the very first thing that jumped out to me was the difference in "defensive philosophy". clearly we won't be "making chicken" anymore. whereas in the past, our defensive philosophy was to "stop the run" as our top priority. welp, not anymore, according to coach brown. now our top defensive priority is "not to get beat over the top", stopping the run comes after that.
that's a "major change" in our defensive philosophy and i hope it works. lawd knows "making chicken" was vulnerable to an accurately passing qb who has receivers who can "catch". but it sho as hail would "shutdown" your ability to run the football. we will soon find out which philosophy works the best.
i'm pretty nervous about our ability to "stop the run", particularly up the middle. our interior d-line is "light in da azz" and that concerns me a great deal. don't be surprised if teams try to pound the ball up the middle against us. our db's are pretty solid, we should be able to contain passing attacks if we can put "pressure" on the opposing qb and that may force teams to run the ball against us. quite the opposite of "making chicken"...

Jump Ball U is now the "Super Freaks"!! I can rest easier now. I no longer feel guilty for missing Rick James at Dorton Arena with Prince opening up for Him… ( anybody who is a fan of Rick, is a friend of mine)

Btw, a QB with speed and accuracy will make a lot of people lose sleep. Even Q. Carter, with his girth, had beautiful moments of deception.
