I was in Fayetteville Labor Day weekend and I planned to show the family Fayetteville State. That plan failed as the entire campus was surrounded by a locked iron fence. I immediately thought we need to do the same. It would be nice but A&T has to much space to even entertain fencing the campus off. We would belike 45 and the wall (joking)

I worry a lot about our campus. IMHO, it's way too open for safety purposes in these dangerous times. We've already had some kooks on campus...remember the guy riding around with all of those weapons in his car?? I still think that we dodged a major incident that time.
We have too many access points...but I don't have a ready solution to offer, either.
But I think that if a school like Southern Cal can manage to close-off their campus, we could probably do something like that, too.

But I think that if a school like Southern Cal can manage to close-off their campus, we could probably do something like that, too. Those things were in place it USC from the get go because of it's location Compton at it's back door . But in saying that USC boosted there number of campus security two over or close to 300 officers and a number of volunteers or more and that's not counting the licensed Armed security agencies that they employ . USC DPS ( Department Of Public Safety) has the resources and equipment equal to the city of Los Angeles Police Department and the County Sheriff Department . They even have a Rapid Response Team..i.e SWAT and Hostage Negotiators and their own Fire 🔥 Department along with other own campus agencies that mirror their off campus counterparts . The campus is technically wired from head to toe with cameras everywhere and monitored 24/7 by the campus DPS . But they still have on campus incidents from time to time, especially on Fraternity and Sorority row . It's not just at A&T it all over and there is no way you can hide from it . But you can get community and city involvement and hope that they cooperate like they are at USC. dps.usc.edu/about-dps/

The off campus incidents that could occur, like the ones in previous years will be out of A&T's control but still be linked to #GHOE. Idk how we go about those situations, but I do think campus entry points have to be well taken care of, even if folks are annoyed at the inconvenience

Hate to try restart the debate but... Oh, I’m down for Aggie PD putting up a wall of sorts around campus where we check everyone and every check vehicle before enjoying GHOE. Charging every single non-student? That’s effectively the Gamezone. Would that mean turning the entire campus into a gamezone? Not sure if feasible. I also was in an email thread suggesting we add another tailgate area near the parking deck behind Holland Hall.

Build a wall.....can ill-afford to have the drug dealers, rapists, and infection-infested people on our campus....although I assume some entering campus are good people.

If we build a new wall around campus before we renovate War Memorial, I am gonna be pissed.

Not a full-fledged, actual wall. However, every driving entrance to campus could and perhaps should be blocked off and security checkpoints put up to check all individuals driving onto campus for weapons. I'm not sure how feasible that is.

Yall act like street thugs don't know how to climb. For additional safety and aesthetics the wall should match what we have around Truist Stadium lol. The so elegantly designed barbed wire topping should suffice while providing a cohesive appearance. Lol

I was just driving through R1 UMBC’s campus and you drive right past a Baltimore County police station before you hit campus. It sits literally at the one of the campus entrances. I don’t know if having a Greensboro PD station next to campus is feasible or ideal, but hey 🤷🏾♂️

In the Alumni Townhall meeting they had the Director of Police on there and he spoke on how they are working to increase security on campus. I hope someone is able to show that presentation.

You would be surprised at the continuous upgrade to campus security.
