Remember - NONE of them are GONE yet. See Charlie Dixon, Jaylen Jackson, etc. What happened with them? Did they enter the transfer portal and later decided not to transfer on their own or the "new hired coach" talked them out of it? I see that Jaylen Jackson is not listed on the MBB team after 1 season. The 1st day for a basketball player to place their name in the portal was March 12,2023. These players thought about it long enough to convince themselves that it was the right thing to do. All players are basically given the following guidance or warnings (not my words): { You should begin the process only when youāre "100% sure". After you initiate the transfer process, your current scholarship should remain intact. Your scholarship for the following academic term, however, is not guaranteed. If you end up rescinding the transfer and decide to stay at your current school, your scholarship could be in jeopardy. Once your current school knows you intend to transfer, they can rescind any scholarship offers for the next semester, quarter, or trimester. They may even give it to another student-athlete. This wonāt matter if you transfer. Once a player is in the portal, coaches from any school can decide if they want to reach out to a player as coaches have access to all contact information. } Maybe 1 out of the 5 tranfer portal players will come back. Coaches from other schools are approaching them now while we decide on a new coach. Coach Shumpert had to talk with all of them before they submitted their "written" request to enter the transfer portal. |

There are 1100 kids in the portal and ### high school seniorsā¦there will be no shortage of quality players to fill out a roster. Once the tournamentās are over even more players will hit the portal. |

It sucks losing talented players, but it's not like we're losing key peices from a championship or over .500 team lol.
Whoever we lose at this point won't make us much worse than we already were lol.

I blame the parents šš Parents let kids change AAU teams and high schools for more playing time vs working to get better. |

We need a New AD yesterday. Anybody can be a Yes man. Need a real AD. We need a new AD because a player wants NIL money? Help me understand ur logic. Does every school with players in the transfer portal need to replace their AD? We need a new AD yesterday and that is not because of NIL or Portal. Kids going into the Portal is going to happen every year. Kids who think they are great or special will think they deserve NIL money. Our AD who many like you think he is doing a good job. He has been fairly decent in the past but nothing overwhelming. Yes, he won an award a few years ago but it is what have you done for me lately. He has always been a poor fund raiser which is the primary duties of the AD. The state of our basketball program over the last 9 or 10 years is a disgrace. The right AD would have solved this problem by hiring the right coach. It is a lot more I can say but we have gone through this before. He ain't going no where until Martin retires and he knows that. We just got to deal with it until Martin leaves. |

Winning a conference championship in menās basketball is more important than winning conference championships in football, womenās volleyball, track and field? Just askingšš So 20 wins is more important than conf wins? A OOC schedule full of D-2s would help a coach get to 20 wins šš So winning the conference championship holds more weight than finishing 2nd and 5th nationally? |
