From a parent that has gone thru the portal scenario, most kids get in and out fairly quickly, because once a school contacts them, they want an answer ASAP because they are trying to fill a specific need. The more time that elapses, the harder it is to get picked up, and the longer it will take. The D2 coaches are just waiting to see who doesn't get picked up before they get in on the action. I find it very interesting that none of our players have committed. May be the football scenario where they return due to lack of interest from top level schools. My question is do we want them back . For me outside of Love Bettis. The rest can kick rocks. |

The rest can kick rocks. i'd definitely be willing to take powell back without even blinking. i'd also be willing to take woods back but "only" if he's willing to commit to playing "team ball", otherwise see ya. i'd like to have bettis back as well. but everybody else can kick rocks... It is still early in the stage for some players to commit (grades, paperwork, recently decided to transfer) and coaches are figuring out right now who all are returning for their extra year, etc to determine how many scholarships they have to offer. When you look down the verbal commits transfer list of >1200 players only a few hundred have committed. They are probably the ones that knew they were going to transfer way before the season ended, but had to wait until the portal opened. Some of the coaches and players are being diligent in their choices. We have atleast 400 more D1 players that will hit the portal.

You prove yourself, and you can get all the burn you want. |

His spot on the roster may not "secure" under this new coach. So it's 50/50 either way. I would say less than 50-50, if I'm taking that he couldn't get much play on our roster as being legitimate...probably more like 70-30. |

definitely wish crews the best! but there's a lot more players in the portal who are on his level or even below his level. that's why i tried to simmer the excitement over how many guys are in the portal. not all of them are players that would fit in our program. some of them will not get picked up at all for whatever reasons, some of them will not consider playing at the lowmajor/midmajor level (p5/big east conference only), some of them are only good enough to play at the d2 level or below. what's left is what we have to choose from.
our next head coach has his work cut out for him "unless" he's already been recruiting guys in the portal as well as guys in high school...
