to me, that's the biggest difference between bcu athletics now versus bcu athletics for the previous 30 years under lynn thompson as their athletic director. when they were in the meac, i always felt that lynn thompson was the best ad in the meac. virtually all of bcu's teams under him (not just football) were consistent conference championship contenders. i even lobbied for him to become meac commissioner when thomas resigned and lynn retired from bcu. if i'm not mistaken, i think lynn thompson is now a "consultant" for the meac. i agree, i'm not so sure that theus is the right man for the job as bcu's athletic director... all these issues aren't new and we're going on under Lynn Thompsons tenure as well Yet they were consistently in the mix for MEAC championships. Thompson (thanks oleschool, I couldn't remember his name for the life of me) made good hires and kept the school afloat "despite." You think Thompson would've ever hired Reed? Hell nawl. A pro guy went and hired another pro guy is all. In fact, a pro guy with a bad record as head coach went and hired a pro guy with no record as head coach.

Does winning championships gloss over the fact they don't have a locker room? That they keep their uniforms and equipment in a trailer and shed. That players practice uniforms aren't being cleaned properly?

We had the same issues when I was in school.
And what that got to do with Ed Reed sorry a$$ being hired as coach when he clearly wasn't a fit? And it didn't keep them from winning championships in the recent past.
Winning cures a lot of ills. Can't win without the proper hires. Reed WAS NOT a proper hire. Neither was Theus. If he was there would be a systematic approach to addressing said issues, if they do exist.
When Bill Hayes came to Aggieland, we were sheeet. Period. We had almost nothing beyond a big stadium. He ain't get in the newspapers saying stuff. He rolled up his sleeves and fixed what he could fix and got in the community. He actually already had a rep as a winner so he had standing to say something in the papers. Reed can't even say anything in his barbershop because he hasn't been there in eons.

It's not good that Ed Reed needs a "handler" because he cant control his emotions. He needs some classes or a counselor to get that under control so he can achieve big things or he just needs to stay a #2 behind someone that has a cooler head that he respects. BCU made the right decision. Or like Ed Reed would say... "Say his name!!! His name is REGGIE THEUS!!!(while falling back in his chair)", LOL. looks to me that reed may need to be drug tested. his behavior since being offered the bcu job has very much been "abnormal" and over the top. watching some of his social media videos, it appears that he literally can't control himself... Anyone can walk through most campuses on a random day and find some things. To be honest, I watched that video a few times was like "What trash??". But it was trash since he did have players out there picking it up. A better solution would have been, Go to the top and say "Do we pay the cleaning crews daily? If not the team can help until we get a plan in place. This is ridiculous!". Ed needs emotional counseling.

Right or wrong that's just who he is . BCU should have did there research because you can ask any of his Raven teammates and they will tell you if Ed saw something wrong he is going to express his feelings and could give a damn who likes it or not .

It's on whoever suggested they hire him imo. He ain't offer himself the position.
I remember when Lou Holtz got hired by South Carolina. He commented that the highways in SC had a lot of trash. They literally got cleaning crews to sweep the highways all over the state.
What he ain't do is start cussing and saying how dirty the state was. Imagine how well that would've gone over lol. Lou Holtz or not they'd have ran his lisping a$$ out on a rail.
That's why I'm confused. I've seen some folks on facebook saying he said what needed to be said, etc. It's ALL in how you say in imo. It's like when Vanessa showed up at the Huxtable house with Dabnis and Cliff told her it was the equivalent of serving a steak on a trash can lid.

Ed Reed may not be clean shaven with a clean cut haircut but when he spoke regardless of how he expressed it, people listened.
The young kids ain't talking about his beard, dress style or language because like it or not he woke people up at Bethune and they are appreciative of that.
We got so called righteous upstanding people on here criticizing his style like they are above reproach. Ain't nobody perfect and some are casting the first stone.
Those kids are stirred up at Bethune and are fighting for overdue change there. Yes, that nappy head, fouled mouth, long beard wearing brother got them fired up.
Everything happens for a reason and you know what he probably don't give a damn what we are saying in Aggie Land or any other land.

You should look the part and sound the part if you want to be a change agent. First impressions matter !!

And that is the ultimate point, right? Had he said it better, he'd still be there and could actually be an agent of change. Instead he's off complaining on the internets. And if you're familiar with any BCU alums you know he didn't mention anything they haven't already complained about for years. He DID NOT wake anybody up or get anybody fired up.

Was one of them his barber?
Jokes aside, who'd he wake up and what difference does it make? If anything, he and the "celebrity coach of the month" types have people thinking that all hbcus are a bunch of second-rate, broke a$$, mismanaged institutions that can only be saved by celebrity coaches.
That's a crock of sheeet imo.
IMO he is the one that needs to wake up. You don't show up running down people who were good enough to give you an opportunity on public media. If there are issues you discuss the issues with them in house and in an adult manner. The dude is acting like he's one of his 19 year old players. That won't fly in my book. I don't want a boy leading boys.
