Sense everything has been reduced to rubble no better time than now. I think rubble would mean that no one wants either job. We far from that.

My unsolicited thoughts:
I wouldn't say our athletic department is in shambles. Compared to most hbcu programs we're not doing half bad. Now the problem lies in the fact that we have decided that we are a world-class soon to be r1 institution and we haven't made the slightest move to improve a number of aspects of our campus infrastructure or our athletic department to match. If compared to our CAA peers, our athletic department is in shambles. The school has already acknowledged and communicated that athletically we are behind our peers. In fact, we are so far behind that our hoped-for budget is even behind them lol. That being typed, the conference we are headed to is well-known for being one of the most patient with its football coaches due to the competitiveness of the conference. Most of the coaches in the conference are given years to build a program before they are canned. That is the new reality we are joining and when "whoever" chose to fire Coach Washington without giving him a full recruiting cycle in the CAA to learn and grow failed to realize that.
As far as the player complaints, let's say you're being recruited by a number of schools. You take a visit to Ayantee and the head coach sells you on the family atmosphere of the program and the school. You immediately note how very genuine and approachable the coach is. You are drawn to the thought of a family atmosphere with a coach who is like a loving father-figure. You arrive to the school and you note a number of things missing that were present at the other programs that recruited you. Despite that, the family atmosphere promised by the Ayantee coaches is very real, and it's obvious you are not just a number or position to the head coach. You see your head coach and his assistants struggling, overworked, underpaid, and constantly berated. You have various needs you were sold on by the AD, who also appeared very approachable and caring. You go to your coach about these needs and he tells you he will set up a meeting with the AD for you to address them further, and he tells you to come to him after meeting. The AD dodges and dismisses you completely. If you transferred from a larger school then you shrug your shoulders because it's not like an AD would ever give you the time of day anyways, and the head coach didn't even know who you were until you told your position coach you wanted to enter the portal. If you have a relative that plays or played at a larger school (like Kaba) then you notice the lack you're dealing with. You understand you're not going to get anything that truly rivals what your relative is getting, but you'd at least like to be heard. Radio silence.
To add insult to injury, you came to the school to play in conference a, and during your time the school switches conferences TWICE. The school pays a ton of money that could've gone to some of your concerns. You have to stew on this while sleeping on your teammates couch and having your feet licked by his baby pit bull while you sleep.
The one thing that was keeping you level-headed was the family atmosphere. Then out of nowhere they fire your beloved, embattled head coach after a 7-4 season in which he basically met all benchmarks and came in second in the conference. So you're headed to another new conference with no kept promises, no communication with the AD, and total uncertainty across the board. Plus your feet are still wet from that damn pit bull.
IMO, this is the scenario.

All of this would be valid if we had a basketball coach if we had a football coach, if we didn’t lose our track coach. If all the issues were just in one sport then you can say it’s the football coach or the basketball coach .. but these issues are system wide. And if you are a military leader than you should know you are responsible for the outcomes of all your men and women. If you delegate and you delegate wrong that’s your fault. He delegated two basketball coaches and both ended up being wrong.. whose fault is that ??If the attendance does not increase, if corporate sponsorships don’t increase, if you watch the streaming online and you see “please hold while your event is on break” means no advertising .. the Jumbotron silent during breaks .. the lack of NIL deals (NCCU has more) .. we have a systematic problem . It has nothing to do with one coach or x and o or wins and losses. Like I said we need to have a conversation- do you have the skill set to do these things, is the administrator giving the proper support for him to do those things if he can, or is it not apart of your skill set and do we need to find someone that can do it. Because it’s certainly being done with schools who do not have the budget or endowment we have. I am not necessarily calling for heads but I’m calling for a come to a Jesus meeting on what it will take and do we have the skill sets to get us there . Sense everything has been reduced to rubble no better time than now. We didnt lose our track coach...he took a higher paying job! you would turn down an extra $200K a year to do the same work? The military loses people every year to the commercial side because we cant pay what Microsoft or Google can. The military also dismisses people for conduct unbecoming, you can't hold a leader responsible for people making dumb @ss choices. As a military leader you replace those that can't lead which was just done with Washington and the other dismissals. What does delegate two basketball coaches even mean? How do you know NCCU has more NIL deals? Personnel we hire in athletics are in high demand and moving to better jobs. Weve lost 3 S&C coaches to better jobs in less than a year. Have you noticed the same thing is happening on the academic side? Our administrators are taking promotions at other schools. What has been reduced to rubble? Our APR score is high, no scandals, an Olympian track coach... Come on Aggieswag ?!?! Looks like Aggie2039 started looking into you post, but after I read it I had to back away from the keyboard for a few seconds. We fired the football coach what? Two days ago? The search for a head basketball coach in on, and we have a interim coach in place while the season is underway. We didn't loss the track coach...he was the highest paid coach in our program, and he decided to leave for a higher profile and higher paying job at a P5 school. He was replaced with a very capable and competent Olympian from a P5 school. I was in the military too, but Imma leave that alone because it's just a different animal at times. Hell, how many NIL deals do NCCU athletes have...and for how much? How different are the NIL deal A&T athletes have compared to other programs in the MEAC, Big South, or CAA. I didn't know NIL deal were a determining factor for deciding if a college program was any good? The point Aggie2039 makes about the high demand for personal is spot on. This is true for both athletics and academics. Good people cost, and have options...It's hard to find them and hard to keep them. That's no excuse for how slow we are at times, but we have to make sure we make the right picks (Aggie fans rarely like anyone) because we don't have the resources or room for mistakes that other schools can make. Everything has been reduced to rubble...really? Everything ?? We have our issues, every program does...especially among mid majors and HBCUs...but in barely 48 hours "Everything has been reduced to rubble". As much as I would like to see the administration communicate better with fans and stakeholders...I can see why the ignore some of this foolishness. We can't be pleased no matter what they do, we will second guess every decision the make, and to add insult to injury we don't back up the mess we talk with dollars by supporting the program. How does I don't agree with this move...or you guys need to communicate better turn into...everything has been reduced to rubble?

I think it had to do with the way the students had to sign up for housing. I think some kids missed the sign up date. We had student athletes without housing. They were sleeping on teammates couches. Some also missed the sign up for meal plans also. I understand there is a deadline. I am not sure if the kids did just missed the email or received them late (last minute). Some of the student athletes need guidance. Maybe if they had a meeting with the football team to go over the process of how to sign up for all these things. I love it...that is a simple plan that is easy to execute and organize by a football coach. Hell, I'm the Tournament Director for my Geezer Golf Group and I handle more complicated logical issues than this. This is a coach's responsibility to make sure his players have housing and meals plans.

IMO, this is the scenario. Good thoughts and I generally agree with you on most. And no Thrilla, I'm not leaving the Sunshine Gang. Forgive me for actually using the thinking skills A&T taught me. But one thing I want to point out... If we stayed in the MEAC, our budget would still be towards the high end and we wouldn't have much motivation to change this. In fact, they were trying to cut costs. Oddly enough, this would've occurred with FAMU leaving. But there's no guarantee they leave if we stayed. Either way, this move is forcing us to elevate Athletics the same way the academic side has been elevated.

How does I don't agree with this move...or you guys need to communicate better turn into...everything has been reduced to rubble? Contrary to popular belief if your football the #1 money generator is in shambles then schools like us it is in shambles ..and our football program regardless of wins and losses the edge has been gone. but baseball/softball I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure both finished last or next to last. Volleyball did better the year previous with a 4th place finished but they did not qualify for the CAA tournament. The coach I believe has one conference championship in ten years, tennis is heading in the right direction I assume for men I’m not sure for women. The track team brand new coach and a mass exodus regardless of why it happened .. and many of those athletes and coach left complaining about the same things some of you guys want to pretend does not exist. Two basketball coaches with the same exact abrupt ending. That has been a band aid program for 5 years. I’m looking at this from a macro stand point . We have a lot of problems, so many we have the most active board in the country because we have so much to talk about . We’ve had a grass thread for ten years and no progress .. promises have been made on facilities since I was in school.. nothing.. Don’t bury your head in the sand .. from empty stadiums to coach less programs, to the worst facilities, our athletic department is in disarray .. and all I keep saying the challenges are great the challenges are different and we need to make sure we have what it takes to get there. If you are willing to have this conversation with coaches you should be willing to have it with all involved .. it takes a village to get this thing going and you have to have people at the top with the resources they need to be able to complete the complete it .. this is why I’m not calling for heads.. it could be in that conversation we find out that the resources that are given the athletic department is not suitable to meet the new demands, it could be that people in the department need to be relocated to meet different demands, but it also could be that’s not the issue and we need to bring someone in that can lead it. The time is now to have that conversation not two years from now and a new person has a whole new set of coaching contracts and rotted facilities, and a even more shrunk fan base. It only make sense .

Ok for now can they just make Coach Barnette the Interim Head Coach… Sort everything else out later although we don’t have time for “later”.

that's why folk are saying before you fire a head coach, you should already have a "plan" and a short list of candidates in mind...

Unless you either a) didn’t plan to fire the coach or b) are incompetent as hell.
