If they want more money for housing the AD has to do that for all sports.... 350 athletes x $$$ = $1M annually I think it had to do with the way the students had to sign up for housing. I think some kids missed the sign up date. We had student athletes without housing. They were sleeping on teammates couches. Some also missed the sign up for meal plans also. I understand there is a deadline. I am not sure if the kids did just missed the email or received them late (last minute). Some of the student athletes need guidance. Maybe if they had a meeting with the football team to go over the process of how to sign up for all these things. I love it...that is a simple plan that is easy to execute and organize by a football coach.

See it's this type of stuff right here that's just ridiculous. Reminds me of the comments made about the so called "housing crisis" NCA&T was having at the start of the school year. Then when the facts were laid out, NCA&T had more housing as a percentage of the student body than most schools in the state. We have to stop this type of mess. This rush to panic, and to always assume the worst is nauseating. Our whole team is not in the portal, our sports program is not in disarray. Our school administrators are not incompetent. It's almost as if people want to run around with their hair on fire. The truth is some of our players have decided to put their names in the transfer portal. That happened last year, it's happening this year, and will continue to happen as long as there is a transfer portal...that's just a new reality in college sports. In the end let's see how many come back, or are replaced by an even better player (from the transfer portal) once all this shakes out. We fired a coach two days ago...a coach many of us had concerns about throughout the season, and openly called for his head, and questioned if he was the "man" to led us in this new conference. Now he's gone and our program is in a "crisis"? I know we are used to living in a world where you don't part ways with a coach unless things have hit rock bottom. That's not the world we live in now. Coaches are let go all the time in sports, and for a number of reasons. I can't speculate on why Washington was let go...but I do know it wasn't because our program had hit "rock bottom". The administration we have trusted to led the school has decided to move in another direction. You can voice your concerns, but either you trust this leadership or you don't. I mean damn! Some of you Aggies are singing their praises one day, and ready to push them off a bridge the next day. This will all come out in the wash, and if mistakes were made folk will be held accountable. I would argue our sports program is pretty solid. Solid enough that over the past 5 years we have had several accolades across many sports...including conference championship and national championships. So solid that we have been offered invites to better conferences and have administrative support to build out our athletic infrastructure even more. You many not like all their decisions, but our administration is far from incompetent. Students, athletes, and alumni will always complain. I've seen it happen at every school. NCA&T is no different. That said, after reading the "On Point Newsletter" from Harold Martin in my in box this morning there was no doubt the University is headed in the right direction. This social media foolishness has to stop...in all of 24 hours, a football program that just played in the BSC game and University leadership that has lead NCA&T to becoming the largest and one of the most respected HBCUs in the country is all in doubt. Many of y'all need to chill out and take a deep breath. Frist sentence of the Chancellor's Message from the Dec 2022 On Point Monthly update. "One of the management essentials we are committed to at NCA&T is maintaining a strong, up-to-the-minute understanding of where we stand among our peers and with our constituents. We must always know more than anyone else about our university, and always be in the process of learning more. Not just the basic fact and trends, but all of that in the context of a crowded and dynamic higher education marketplace and in connection to our mission, and outcomes." We are a society where the art of critical thinking is lost. Negativity sells and so does sensationalizing stories to get attention. Former president Trump was the master at this, playing on people fears and sensationalizing things to get people riled up over nothing. He convinced half of America that the election was stolen with zero proof, just a tweet lol.

Everything you just typed can be summed up in two words: information void.
The reason that there is so much speculation and possible misinformation, is because our leaders are content with saying nothing in a time of crisis.
I hate to break the news to you, but this is in fact a time of crisis.

What does Putin have over you, Mr. Trump?

In the Twitter spaces, Karfa spoke to a promise not kept regarding housing. Apparently, they had to pay for housing on their own if they didn’t stay in Cooper. We also have vacancies in certain areas that affected getting recovery treatments. There were apparent promises about this also. Lastly, they don’t like the fact that they never met with Earl regarding these issues. In my summation, this comes down to money oddly getting tight. Most of athletics funding comes from student fees and Campus Enterprises. There’s been a goal for Campus Enterprises to reduce the amount of money spent on athletics from their end. This meant Athletics would need to sure up this funding gap. Well, between the pandemic and this move to the CAA, that’s gotta change. They may need to bump up their percentage of athletics funding to 40 percent of the expense budget to fulfill all of these demands from the players and new coaching staff. And that’s not in Earl. That’s on Harold. Ok, these are "things". Thats all I'm saying. I aint saying name a player or call a player out. But at least say what it is. Thanks Westcoast for understanding the question. The housing thing with Cooper I kind of get. There is a lot of variables to living off campus with a scholarship. Does it cost more than your room and board? If it does cost more does the University pay the difference since they on a full ride? Does it vary for each sport? Do we not have enough student athlete housing? I wouldn’t have said it if he didn’t publicly say something on social media. He’s also a graduate so he’s technically one of us. Other players and even coaches feel the same way regarding the communication with the AD. I’m just not going to say their names because that was done in private.

Westcoast, are you still a card-carrying member of the Sunshine Gang?
Do you want to denounce your affiliation?

What does Putin have over you, Mr. Trump? As a leader in the military, I expect officers under me to lead their troops and resolve problems at the lowest level. A Capt leading 150 men and women should be able to identify a problem and tell me what they are doing to fix it and prevent it from happening again. Does the AD really need to setup a briefing for the football team from the housing office? The AD needs to get involved if personnel from the housing office arent willing to come brief. The AD needs to get invovled if the solutions requires money above and beyond the budgeted amount for program.

If a press release comes out tomorrow and says a search committee will be formed, we're up blank creek! What if a press release comes out and says absolutely nothing? Where at we at then?

The United States military is the largest defense organization on the planet with an almost endless budget. The A&T athletic department is a bare-bones operation with very little staff support. You can't compare the two. At A&T, all our leaders must be able to roll of their sleeves and solve problems when they arise. You can't just delegate your way out of a crisis.

Washington is the leader of his football program. If his players don't understand timelines for housing signup, an assistant coach can speak with the housing office and have them come brief. That is free I've done something similar on numerous occasions without having to involve my boss.

Facts no longer matter...it's just "what I heard". I don't pretend to know who the next coach will be...and would love to have some inside information on when the decision was made to let Washington go. That said, Monday it was all good with Aggie Football as we talked about who was in the portal, who we could get from the portal, and what was going on with recruiting as we head tot he CAA. Now it's Friday and we in a "crisis"...at the start of the football season after 4 games folks was calling for Washington's head...now a few weeks after the season is over there are folks calling for the AD and Chancellors heads. Aggies are a trip, but I guess it's just the world we live in. One manufactured crisis after another.

All of this would be valid if we had a basketball coach if we had a football coach, if we didn’t lose our track coach. If all the issues were just in one sport then you can say it’s the football coach or the basketball coach .. but these issues are system wide. And if you are a military leader than you should know you are responsible for the outcomes of all your men and women. If you delegate and you delegate wrong that’s your fault. He delegated two basketball coaches and both ended up being wrong.. whose fault is that ??
If the attendance does not increase, if corporate sponsorships don’t increase, if you watch the streaming online and you see “please hold while your event is on break” means no advertising .. the Jumbotron silent during breaks .. the lack of NIL deals (NCCU has more) .. we have a systematic problem . It has nothing to do with one coach or x and o or wins and losses. Like I said we need to have a conversation- do you have the skill set to do these things, is the administrator giving the proper support for him to do those things if he can, or is it not apart of your skill set and do we need to find someone that can do it. Because it’s certainly being done with schools who do not have the budget or endowment we have. I am not necessarily calling for heads but I’m calling for a come to a Jesus meeting on what it will take and do we have the skill sets to get us there .
Sense everything has been reduced to rubble no better time than now.

Sense everything has been reduced to rubble no better time than now. We didnt lose our track coach...he took a higher paying job! you would turn down an extra $200K a year to do the same work? The military loses people every year to the commercial side because we cant pay what Microsoft or Google can. The military also dismisses people for conduct unbecoming, you can't hold a leader responsible for people making dumb @ss choices. As a military leader you replace those that can't lead which was just done with Washington and the other dismissals. What does delegate two basketball coaches even mean? How do you know NCCU has more NIL deals? Personnel we hire in athletics are in high demand and moving to better jobs. Weve lost 3 S&C coaches to better jobs in less than a year. Have you noticed the same thing is happening on the academic side? Our administrators are taking promotions at other schools. What has been reduced to rubble? Our APR score is high, no scandals, an Olympian track coach...
