Can't show them up if they ain't there. Can you? Tuba? Probably not getting that in. Pep band instruments? If you bring it, I don't see why not. Or we can make as many excuses as the band guy was making. Aggies Do... nothing. You’d be surprised what you can get away with. If 40 alumni showed up with horns in one hand and ticket in the other they’d probably let us in without a second thought. We’d probably have to stand behind the end zone but it wouldn’t be the first time lol.

You do realize a tuba is apart of the instrumentation of the pep band right? Just bring the cowbells and have the cheerleaders do a lot of call and response cheers in those 3 min intervals. Will work out great

I'd bring a kazoo and rock the house if I was able. I'm also excellent in banging on lunchroom tables.
Furthermore, I have unbiased expert testimony that says "if 40 alumni showed up with horns in one hand and ticket in the other they’d probably let us in without a second thought." I tend to lean towards that opinion.

I have a question because I’ve been thinking. I keep seeing we don’t offer enough or little scholarship money for our band student but what are the number for other HBCU band students when it comes to scholarship money? Every HBCU with a bigger band than us doesn’t even have a bigger athletic budget or endowment that I can think of so what and where is this money we swear other schools have?

Another thing we know our schools are underfunded, we know a lot of education departments are underfunded, we know athletics are underfunded so the band would be no different correct? Apparently we not the only school that feels the band should get more which is ok but how do you expect the band to get more when the whole damn school struggles to an extent? I do think it’s time for a band room tho. No I’m not justifying the treatment of the band I’m just asking the who’s, what’s, and how’s.

UAPB with 1 million in band scholarships but in debt is not something I would want us to deal with. That’s crazy

Academics is what’s important to A&T.
I’m starting to believe some of these schools give band scholarships just to keep their enrollment up, get students to attend the university that normally wouldn’t.
My little cousin had a band scholarship to BCU but had to pay $16K a year out of pocket…she made a bad business decision 😂😂😂
I’m going to give you $5K but you give me $16K in return 😂😂😂 and no she wasn’t a music major.
A&T gives academic scholarship versus band scholarships.

For years...I've known bands to give scholarship monies to students for the Fall semester only. Then the spring the the student is on it's own for tuition. That's how they stretch their monies. But, it's more than what the student started with...a little money is better than none. I remember the late Great Dr. Hodge told me his last season before he retired that he had a dynamite baritone player but, he lost him to Norfolk who was able to give the young man a full ride. Doc said, "All I could offer him was he would get a great education and he would be in a helluva band." The money topic is real...most students that get scholarship money from other sources will not march in the marching band because they don't want to risk losing those scholarships by marching. UAPB having a million dollar scholarship budget, I suspect a huge uptick in membership.

I've literally been saying this for years: bluedeathvalley.proboards.com/post/129364The money is a factor but it's not the excuse we make it out to be, especially for in state students. Unfortunately if our in state high schools suck (are you seeing a theme yet) that advantage goes out the window.

The band could careless about supporting the football team, they chose to sit out a home game earlier this year remember they didn't want to play in the rain They've played in the rain times before. They've worn the rain coats and sat in the stands. In 2019 vs nccu they were out there in a complete down pour!

I don't know fellas, maybe I'm getting old but, these days I just have zero tolerance for folk always talking about what they cannot do. I'm sick of it...now, it has bled over to the band. They cannot do this or that because, God know what. My only question would be, "What CAN you do?" And if that doesn't meet expectations then people need to go. You mean to tell me, that the world would have stopped spinning on it's axis if the band had attended the game on Saturday. I just hate foolishness...I hate it!!
