Johnson is already failing his first major test which is finding a way to retain the talent on the roster. It doesn't help that his social media presence has been slow to reflect his new job. I understand Ross' own kids would leave with him, but he is essentially out-recruiting Johnson for the other current athletes at this university too. You would like to see Hilton and Johnson sit down and meet with those kids and convince them to stay. Doubt any of us would "see" him/them meet with them. I expect he, and possibly Hilton, have or will meet with them. Convincing them to stay is a whole other matter. For me, Coach Ross is a BIG draw for the kids...MUCH more than A&T.

Right, because T was running track before Ross, only variable that changed over previous seasons was Ross.

Talent gravitates to who's coaching where . Yes the Institution has something to do with it , but it's mostly about the coach his reputation and talent production . You can use Tennessee as a prime example . It's not Tennessee the school but it is about Tennessee having Ross as there T&F HC that is attractive/attracting talent . Johnson will be afforded the same opportunities that Ross had to solidify his reputation . But be warned that if Johnson even comes close to achieving what Ross has done , he will not be at A&T longe . Also there is an abundance of T&F talent out there and know that no one coach are program can get it all , Johnson just has to get his share and develop that talent .

Ross was the key but other variables changed. Specifically, Ross got a full time throwing coach a full time distance coach and a full time jump coach. He also got his former College HC to join his staff . In addition, I recall Space routinely asking the Aggie Club for $$$ to help the team go to the Penn Relays. Ross never had to ask to go to Texas or Drake Relays....

This is a bad sign for Johnson.
Why are so many athletes looking to jump ship?

Glad you said it cause we like to bury our head in the sand. You get it with kids that followed Ross. You are gone lose some kids to other schools that’s life but we about to be in complete rebuilding.
I hope he has been meeting individually with athletes.

Let's get all up in arms about the second Grad Transfer signing. BTW, the Cross Country roster is still plenty full of student-athletes.

She doesn't run cross country. She set the school record in the hammer throw.
Let me repeat: our school record holder just decided she would rather finished her college career elsewhere.
That is a cause for concern.

Ross signed with Tennessee on 24 May
This young lady is getting her Masters degree in Biomedical Science at ECUs medical school. She received a full ride too!
Noel Ruiz our former all American kicker did the same thing as did mike rivers

Masters Degree in Bio Medicine or hammer throw for one more semester in Greensboro. Not a tough career decision 😂

That is a cause for concern. How is that a concern ? She has already graduated . There is no reason for concern let Coach do his thing and stop trying to make something out of nothing.

Noel Ruiz our former all American kicker did the same thing as did mike rivers This honestly is understandable and makes me feel better. You still would like for your top athletes with eligibility to remain at your school but it appears that, unlike the previous athletes we lost, she did not transfer for track reasons. BTW: I am not sure Rivers transferred because of academics. I think we wanted to play football at a higher (FBS) level.
