So we lost a bidding war to Central? That is almost more embarrassing than losing to them on the football field.

Why stay if they feel they are in a no-win situation...no pun intended. At this point, our own chancellor doesn't feel confident that we are ready to compete in the conference that we are moving to. So, that's a no brainer for anyone...

Best to get out when you still have some credibility left. Stay at A&T and we start getting our brains beat in by William & Mary, Richmond, Rhode Island, Monmouth and thank God James Madison left the conference...it wouldn't be a good look at all. So, the only thing I can think that leadership can do is plan to increase resources and make a big-splash coaching hire. But, that's probably still 3-5 years away.

I'm still wondering was there any attempt to keep Coard and if not, why not? Yes there was. Well that makes me feel better about things. It's not uncommon for someone to decide to move on (for whatever reasons), alert their employer...and if they are a valuable asset a counter offer was made. Most times once a person decides to move on there isn't much the current employer can do to keep the employee...but it makes sense for them to try. Hell, I'm sure the MEAC and Big South were both like..."is there something we can do to get you to stay"..."listen to my proposal". Like I said, I wish him luck, just not against us.

If I'm reading between the lines, it was the leadership's sentiments that we were 6-7 years away from being able to move to CAA and be competitive. That means to me, that we are not competitive right now!!!! The Big South move didn't work out in our favor so, now we have to make the move to a conference that we already know that we aren't necessarily ready for. That's what that means to me but, hey I've been called a "Doom and Gloomer."

Okay, all jokes aside...WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE LEAVING? Players, coaches, staff...I'm concerned this is not the end.
Are opportunities REALLY that great beyond North Carolina A&T? Is it facilities? Is it culture? Is it by-in? Are folks afraid of presumingly "better, higher quality" competition on the field and sidelines in the CAA conference? Do our current players and staff lack that much confidence in their abilities or inability to rise to the new level and challenge of competition? Is there a real dysfunction going on in the locker room?
Personally, as an NC A&T alum like most on these boards (though presumingly younger than most)...I DO NOT WANT ANYONE AT NC A&T THAT DOES NOT WANT TO WIN AND GRADUATE AS AN AGGIE. I want people to be around who really WANT to be at A&T through transition, winning, losing, good times, and bad times. An Aggie at heart through and through.
People seem so easy to jump ship. Hopefully, I am wrong and am missing something. To the coach leaving to coach at HIS alma mater - more power to him. But, for student-athletes leaving as posted in the other thread in addition to all of these coaches - WHY??? And why NOW? One minute you're in the transfer portal...the next minute you're out the portal...now you're in the portal again...so wishy-washy...
Hopefully, Aggie Alum Connell Manor has a great season in the SWAC 2022...

Patience.
Like Bob Marley and Treach both said: "Everything's gonna be alright."

Or maybe he saw the Hilton 5 Year Plan (the writing on the wall). Whatever the reason, he's gone, we should wish him the best of luck (except on an annual scheduled Saturday each year)! Him leaving is the minor issue. The major issue is what's next for us. This brings the total replacements to three (I think). In my mind that's three huge holes, that's what we need to address. Not to be in a rush, but the clock is ticking to get to a reasonable level of familiarity, communication, structure, role, responsibilities all the intangibles that make organizations successful because of continuity. I don't think that can happen four weeks in August. The first four weeks are starting to look like the The Wall, "Winter is Coming" - Ned Stark.

We play NCCU on Sept 3, then North Dakota State the next week, then Duke the week after that and then SCSU the following week.
But no rush. We got plenty of time to figure this out.
