I’m sorry but I’m worried .. I know I’m not supposed to look at star ratings and that sorts but I can’t help it. Just seen a graph on fbs transfers and Ala A&M leads the list .. A&T was not on the list out of like 50 schools. From what I can tell A&T had the worst class among elite hbcus .. and Campbell Gardner webb destroyed us in conference. We might have met “needs” but that’s relative. Considering a losing season. Dion Sanders has the SWAC competing and it is paying off all their schools has great classes. I mean great. I am very worried that the ones we are looking for - those black kids that choose pwis.. are choosing the SWAC schools. I know this is only year one, but if this is a prelude.. we gotta do something different. We are not even keeping up w the pace of our conference and just getting plumitted by other hbcus. I know we may have had success previous years but great programs reload every year. All I can say is that based off what I have seen in the conference And hbcus we get a C- I am not concerned about JSU and GSU recruiting class, kids are signing because of the coaches name not institution. A&M signed a bunch of transfers are they are still going to lose…. Programs with a lot of transfers don’t perform well against quality competition. Heck, look at our basketball team…a lot of good transfers and we are losing🤷🏾♂️ Campbell recruiting is what concerns me, we had a better record and it’s a school without a lot of publicity.

And we have a better football name than everyone in hbcus with the exception of Sanders.. 7th in recruiting for the largest and hbcu program standard bearer. We have to do something different - that is unacceptable.. 7th is last far as I am concerned.. If you look at both conference and hbcus it speaks to a bigger problem .. the ones that we are looking for are choosing SWAC schools because they are the ones that have the hbcu culture and they are the ones competing w Sanders. If he’s making noise they can make noise beating him. Idc what anyone says that has to play a factor and their incredible class. They own the top 6 .. in all my life that has not happened .. we can’t discount that .. And campbells class was right beside JSU .. I know everyone is happy with fixing the defense but I just see a bigger problem going on .We have to be extremely careful not to become the blah school. Just because the SWAC has traditionally not done well does not mean it will stay that way. I see a trend not in our favor.

These SWAC schools are getting tons of transfers…bruh grambling brought in 36 recruits and Alabama A&M 38….let that sink in. Where is this list you speak of? Does it show how many transfers and JUCO players? A&T strategy is not to bring in a bunch of transfers or turn over an entire roster. SCSU and NDSU is our formula for success…high school recruiting. Yiu saw what scsu did vs JSU P5 transfers… We had the second best HBCU class last year without a bunch of transfers.

it’s about the quality of recruit/transfer - whose choosing to sign .. I’m more concerned about The Who and The Why .. not the what.

I’m more worried about the score on the field and people graduating and staying off the police blotter. Recruiting rankings are somebody’s thoughts about somebody at one period in time.

Since we are talking about concerns, my concern is we didn't change ANYTHING about our recruiting. NOTHING. The coaches evidently think our recruiting methods don't need to change much if at all. But then again, that shouldn't surprise me we've had that same approach at halftime of games.

I’d rather wait and see how we do than pass judgment based on who we signed.

I see it in baseball I saw it volleyball and even in basketball both men and women basketball they intentionally sought after better talent to match the competition .. I didn’t see that here. It was mediocre at best and you can’t compete at the level we want to compete with a class like that. There is some talent - we filled some immediate needs. but it’s not what I was looking for.

It appears your concerns are being addressed but it’s taking longer than anticipated to get those portal signings we need. I suspect they’ll trickle in once Spring Ball passes and they are enrolled during first or second summer sessions.

But then again, that shouldn't surprise me we've had that same approach at halftime of games. You’re absolutely correct. As well as it’s correct that the rankings from that site don’t really matter because it didn’t even have the accurate numbers for us (i messaged the guy who made it and he said he’ll change it on his final rankings). It’s no excuse that after almost a decade of winning, and putting NFL players on the field, that the staff is still going after recruiting battles with Chowan and ECSU. In general I think the past year has exposed the amount of stagnation & mediocrity that was allowed in this program because winning trumped all anyway. Now we’re in a hole we have to dig ourselves out of and it’s up to the leaders to do so.
