But 96 the departures of Hampton, Kennesaw, & Monmouth doesn't equate to the BS being on life support. It would impact football surely, but doesn't threaten the conference at large. And I'm sure Kallander was forecasting potential defections, this has been their experience particularly with football. At the very least we've seen the BS add members, what are the MEAC additions in the last 5 years?

who cares...?
The MEAC priority was not making A&T happy.
We voiced our concerns and they ignored it.

Win the Big South. Get some fans in the seats, get the bag up. Then Excell in the post season. Put another Trophy in the case. If things collapse then they collapse. The School in East Greensboro is a feather in any Conference.

Hampton cares more about the doors that will open on the academic, social, political, industry and economic side.
No different than Howard fielding sports teams that the MEAC doesn't sponsor. Howard fields six sports teams that the MEAC doesn't sponsor, they want to rub elbows with other conferences.
Hampton is upfront and honest with their motives, Howard tries to not be as obvious.
Look at their womens golf schedule...notice anything? The UMES Invitational that A&T participated in is missing off their schedule...look at the tournaments that are on their schedule.
WILLIAM & MARY INVITATIONAL (CAA) BUCKNELL INVITATIONAL (Patriot League) YALE INVITATIONAL (Ivy League)
Do not be fooled guys

big south conference is now the "little" south conference. like, "boom"!! 3 teams leaving in the same year, business as usual in the "little" south conference. its back on "life support" in the "icu" for the little south conference.
time for the "little" south conference to try to steal some more hbcu's out of "desperation" again...

How can a conference with 11 full time members after Hampton’s departure be on life support?
People love to ignore facts

We officially joined this conference in July of 2021.
In less that a year, Monmouth, Kennesaw State, Hampton and North Alabama are all leaving (based on this report). We went from a league of 9 football playing schools to now five in less than seven months. The only other HBCU in the conference- which was supposed to make our cultural transition somewhat smoother - is leaving.
If that sounds stable to you, you are lying to yourself.

Did A&T's leadership see this coming ? It is going to be interesting to see how far the Big S***it's strength of conference rankings drop with the departure of KSU , NAU and Monmouth and possibly Campbell in football .The MEAC's new management should make sure that the remaining football-playing institutions stay consolidated has a conference . Now is the time to talk MERGER because the MEAC is holding all the cards . And should adopt a , all or nothing mentality because the Big S****it is in between a rock and a hard place with no where to go outside of pilfering teams from the MEAC . This is going to be an interesting next to year's . It appears that there was a rush to run away from home due to some matters that should have been resolved intelligently. Advice from Harvey and others with a carrot while using a frivolous argument about lost class time due to travel; overlooked the obvious. A look at the books meaning the history of the conference should have been done . But no folk were upset and were blinded by pie in the sky except for the one lone vote against this leap of false faith. It would be a good thing if the MEAC could be stronger and attractive and should trat A&T like that little boy who ran away from home got tired and hungry came back home to sit at the supper table and his plate was not there.

It is a stable conference…outside of Hampton what other full time members have left? Basing conference stability off of one sport is a bit extreme…especially when the conference sponsors 17 other sports. Folks are looking for any reason to say this was a bad move, especially those that didn’t agree with it or are emotionally tied to the MEAC.

Football has always been the golden goose. That is why the Big East imploded and the Big 12 is currently in disarray.
You don't lose almost half of the schools in your main revenue generating sport in less than a year and get to pretend it is no big deal. Sorry, but if the MEAC had similar defections everyone would consider that being unstable - and rightfully so.
BTW: If you think Robert Morris is going to stick around now that it no longer has a northern dance partner, you are truly not paying attention.

At the FCS level football is not a golden goose…it’s a money pit. That is why schools depart FCS for FBS. No conferences are getting millions of dollars to have the games broadcast. Football is a money pit, did you see expenses vs revenue for football?

Well, if it is a money pit let's just join the CIAA. We can save money on scholarships and travel. Win win.
