I don't see a specific thread for all of the activity, but things are getting dicey. Monmouth is 99% out of the door and now the rumor is Campbell may be joining them in the CAA. That would drop the Big South below the automatic bid line.

That would drop the Big South below the automatic bid line. If it happens, the Big South has 2 years to invite members before losing their Football AQ. There are quite a few FCS Football conferences that will be around 6 members. It’s interesting that Campbell would be willing to jump out of the Big South for basketball to the CAA, increasing their overall travel expenses.

Did A&T's leadership see this coming ? It is going to be interesting to see how far the Big S***it's strength of conference rankings drop with the departure of KSU , NAU and Monmouth and possibly Campbell in football .The MEAC's new management should make sure that the remaining football-playing institutions stay consolidated has a conference . Now is the time to talk MERGER because the MEAC is holding all the cards . And should adopt a , all or nothing mentality because the Big S****it is in between a rock and a hard place with no where to go outside of pilfering teams from the MEAC . This is going to be an interesting next to year's .

As long as Big South Basketball, Baseball, and other sports are safe, A&T is stable.

Rejoining the MEAC as football-only probably isn't out of the question at this juncture on either side of the fence.
If I'm in the administration, considering how shaky the ground for conference membership for any number of FCS programs is, I'd throw the kitchen sink in athletics for the next four-six years to make myself as attractive as possible to the conference that offers the best benefits.

I was not referring to A&T this is about the conference. I couldn't tell as your first question in your post was whether or not Earl, Harold, and A&T "saw this coming." Regarding the conference, there are multiple Division 2 schools that are in talks with the Big South and other conferences regarding moving up. They will have a 2-year clock to keep their AQ if Campbell or any other team leaves the conference in Football on top of Monmouth.

We also are becoming a bigger and better fit within the SoCon.

I can only guess that the two universities are UNCP and maybe Wingate…

And your right the OVC may take the Big S***it because they are losing team left and right , but I seriously doubt that the ASUN will take the conference after already getting KSU and NAU . Like I said the Big S***it is between a rock and a hard place.

Another thing that could end up happening is a conference like the Big South decides that FCS Football isn't worth it and allows its football-playing members to seek membership elsewhere.
