The Big South has two football members. Charleston Southern Gardner-Webb Crazy to think GW won the Big South OVC championship, their HC is leaving so we shall see if their success is sustainable. What's crazy about it? What Tre Lamb did at G-W was amazing....G-W was garbage before he got there, and he turned things around quickly. He's a coach that's worth keeping an eye on.....and only 34 at that.

It will be interesting to see how long this football association lasts. BIG SOUTH-OVC The Big South and OVC have an association set for 2023. The two conferences will share one bid among the two conferences. The association between the two conference has an initial term of at least four years, going through the 2026 season. Together, the conferences will have eight playoff-eligible teams from 2024-2025 and nine playoff-eligible teams in 2026. www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2023-11-27/making-sense-fcs-conference-realignment

Gardner Webb and Charleston Southern will probably end up in the SoCon. I don't think the Big South will sponsor football in a few years.

I don’t think the SoCon has expanded over the past few years, so if they were looking to pick up a couple football playing schools in their footprint now would be a time to negotiate from a position of strength. Hell if I was in MEAC leadership I’d holler at them as well. If they don’t wanna go full member…perhaps associate members for football. They fit right in the MEAC footprint as well.

Are you saying that if a PWI school joined the MEAC, their football program would not be allowed to participate in the CB?
When did the MEAC commissioner state that?

But why are you making that assumption about the MEAC and not the SWAC too? Did the MEAC leadership specifically state that they didn't want PWI's to join in football? That was the part I didn't understand.

MEAC does not want PWI schools to participate in the Celebration Bowl Hey, a lot of folk were upset when the MEAC gave up its auto bid for the Celebration Bowl. It seems to be working for them, but this does limit them if it means they will only look at HBCUs for football expansion. It’s called the HBCU national championship, but that title was handed out long before the celebration bowl. No reason the same can’t be true now. If a PWI joined the MEAC or SWAC and got the celebration bowl bid it would just be what it is now…a bowl game between the MEAC and SWAC. Now with all that typed there would be folks in both conferences that would be ready to jump off bridges if it ever happened LOL !!

MEAC does not want PWI schools to participate in the Celebration Bowl It's not about what the MEAC wants or doesn't want. It's about Survival of the Conference when it comes to FCS Football. Don't assume things that are not there . Hell HBCU'S are allowed to compete in the FCS playoffs, so why can't a PWI compete from a HBCU conference in the CB if they have earned the right to be in the only FCS Sanctioned Bowl Game by the NCAA.

Folks hating on the BGMM? They one of the best HBCU bands in the country…sounds like people just want a reason to be mad about something instead of stepping their game up.
