6. Entice ELON, and convince UNC-Pembroke to move up. Pembroke has a 8K+ student enrollment (is it a commuter school?), decent facilities, fits the conference footprint . I don't think they sponsor enough Men sports. As I've been reading up on this whole thing, I don't think Elon will look at the Big South. The CAA has something the Big South and even the SoCon (to a certain extent) doesn't have; a high academic reputation among administrators. Academics is truly a strong enough bond to the point they are keeping schools together from Maine to South Carolina. Not too many conferences can say they contain the number of R1 very high research institutions as the CAA on the east coast. In fact, many of the schools in the CAA could qualify as "Ivy Lite" and the Patriot League would take them in a heartbeat. It allows for academic programs with strong reputations to fully financially support athletics. The patriot league just allowed for some scholarships in football yet will not allow for redshirting. The Big South just doesn't have that rep. And it's that rep A&T Admin really wants to connect with. To me, the Big South (along with the MEAC [argue it all you want] and NEC) is merely a springboard for schools to build up both academics and athletics until they are able to join the A-10, America East, CAA, or SoCon. We're just in luck that the CAA also wants to support its southern programs by reigning in travel costs, allegedly. Anyone in NC who gets that invite to the CAA will take it in a heartbeat because of the academic rep. The came can't be said for the Big South, unfortunately.

I don’t disagree, and that’s probably their position. Plus you add in a significant alumni base in the Northeast, it’s probably a hard sell. Other than reduced travel expenses, and an easier road to championships are the best selling points I can come with. But at this point both should be on the Big South call list.

I did and see where you separated the two, but my thought still stands. I don't see where Elon moving to the Big South makes sense for them. Read your response to WCA and see your point of view.

Campbell, GWU, and PC wrestling is in the SoCon. So there is a relationship with the SoCon. Campbell is the defending champ.

You could see this coming although I thought a Big South - MEAC agreement would have made more sense.
