Was thinking the same thing. Need to be calling Winston or a CIAA school now. I didn't see a need for the AD or coach to make a statement/press conference because of a 5-6 season. But I do see a need for one, due to the conference instability (football). Why would we play WSSU for GHOE? A segment of the alumni was looking forward to playing Hampton for Homecoming. If Hampton isn't on the schedule, we need an opponent for that date and it makes sense to look 30 minutes down the road.

Could Davidson be on the radar as football only. They have a basketball program that does not need the big south , but they did make the playoffs this year. I am not sure how good they are because they also only beat Shaw because Shaw missed the 2 pt conversion at the end of the game. I really am torn - part of me wants to stay but the other part of me says this circus is worst than the meac. We saved this conference by coming and now they are in the same boat first year in. I have a feeling it’s always going to be like this. Robert Morris has no legitimate reason to be in this conference. They will be gone soon. They really could play in the NEC or Patriot and it would make more geographical sense. How many more teams are out there that will come to big south knowing that the conference is in a constant state of chaos? 2 things: - Davidson isn't going to give out scholarships. It'll be cool if they did as they'd be a lock for the Big South. And they're private so they'd "fit" with the other private school, football-playing members. - Robert Morris effectively had their football team kicked out of the NEC when their Athletic Department joined the Horizon League. If I'm Kollander, I'd reach out to a school relatively close to Robert Morris who's also a Horizon League member; Youngstown State. They'd likely save money in football avoiding going to the Dakotas and Iowa for games in the MVFC and having a "travel partner" in Robert Morris that's just 1 hour away. It'll also make it easier for them to make the playoffs in the Big South than MVFC with that gauntlet of a schedule.

We can still play Hampton for GHOE if the schedules align. Just think playing one of the only schools that when they come on our biggest game is foolish

I've been preaching forever that, from a fiscal prospective, if possible, you should always schedule an opponent nobody wants to see play for GHOE.
1. People are buying game tickets to GHOE no matter the opponent.
2. In this example, HU as any other home game would garner higher ticket sales than playing VUL (GHOE opponent= sell out)
As long as NCCU is on schedule T should have a minimum of 2-3 sellouts per season, GHOE and either NCCU, SCSU or HU.

In this scenario we have a potential open date for Homecoming that needs to be filled. I'd rather see Winston OR another local HBCU than a VUL or a PWI.

hail, i've already made my ghoe hotel reservations! fortunately my deposit is refundable but a lot of hotels don't do that if you've guaranteed your reservations. hopefully if they leave, it won't be effective until next season 2023... If Hampton causes you not to come to Homecoming? Never mind. not concerned with "who" we play for ghoe. i'm concerned about the "possibility" that the ghoe "DATE" may change if hampton is no longer on our schedule. man, ya'll are such great "pyshics" on this message board...

The date's not changing. why wouldn't it? "if" hampton is no longer on our schedule and we're unable to find a "replacement" this late in the game, then its very plausible that the ghoe date could change. can't hold the ghoe game without a ghoe opponent to play against. most college teams have already finalized their schedules for 2022. so it wouldn't be easy to find a replacement in the event that hampton is removed from our 2022 schedule...

The Furniture Market pretty much controls when our Homecoming games will be. We also have a block of dates for the Sheraton 4 Seasons available for sale on those dates this Saturday. It'll be much easier to find an opponent for that date than changing the date of Homecoming.

The fall furniture market has always dictated when we held GHOE. That is common knowledge.
