I did not see the game so will someone that did please tell what da hell is going on. At the start of the game you guys sound like we are the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Washington Generals. So why are we playing so poorly? Is it lack of talent, lack of effort or lack of coaching? Or all of the above? Every team that has erased our double digit leads has had two things in common: size on the boards and forcing the slow tempo. Citadel's guards shot A&T out of its press because the guards can't help and recover. Once their guards stopped trying to run with Langley and limited us to a halfcourt game, they realized A&T can't dump the ball in the post abd get a good shot consistently. Why not let the big men play inside? Robinson and Jones gave good minutes, but why not go back to them? Citadel got multiple chances to take the lead because A&T never got a good look to extend the lead. Either Langley was getting blocked on rotation, A&T took a forced three, or turned it over. Defensive perimeter rotations are a REAL problem even when we were playing well. You KNOW who the shooters are. Why are defenders one, sometimes two full steps away on the contest??? Only Lyons has the length to cover that ground defensively. This is a bad loss, considering that they are a likely opponent for years to come.

So why are we playing so poorly? Is it lack of talent, lack of effort or lack of coaching? Or all of the above? I don't think it's that dramatic. If this team only makes one 3-pointer in the second half, we lose. Although there was a little more energy on the boards, our best rebounder is still Kam Langley. That's a problem. Duling was outstanding in the first half but the Citadel adjusted to him in the second half. The Citadel wanted it more. The Brown kid was a beast and no one stepped up to match his energy on both ends of the floor. They also had role players in the post the "stayed in their lane". They also had a nagging man-to-man defense. Disciplined teams will not make as many mistakes against pressure. When the 3-ball was not falling, our next tactic was weave and penetration which did not work as well against disciplined long-armed defenders and no high flyers to dump off to. On to the next game.

I was going to pay for a picture of me for the seats in Corbett. Based on our play I still plan to make the donation but my picture might have a bag covering my face. You said you did not see the game. Why so drastic?

If the Citadel is projected to be last in the Big South and they beat us, that's a bad sign. Guess we'll get our teeth kicked in for a few seasons until we figure out how to play better.

We have a few drastic ones in here that need to come away from the ledge LOL....I'm disappointed in the loss as well but your previous post summed it up perfectly.

Forget the projections. They had a grad transfer and a medical redshirt and a sophomore shooter who hit 9 three pointers in their first game and 4 against us. They were better than the projection and we shot worse than we have in the last two games. That's all. Coach is still struggling a little with rotations and matchups without Blake and Parker. Again, you didn't even see the game.

Well TBH, we're not in the running for an at-large bid. Even if we ran the table from here on out, we'd be hard-pressed to get an At-Large bid out of the MEAC. That may change once we're in the Big South, however, that's unlikely. While great, these games are merely just glorified scrimmages for us until we can get into a place were we can gain At-Large considerations. So you're saying don't take basketball serious until we play conference games? The Ls on our early schedule don't matter at all? What matters the most is how the coaches iron out their rotations and strategies and players learn how to close out games and execute. Any wins are icing on the cake. And trust, we’ll win more.

The Citadel is in the Southern Conference......not the Big South. They aren't guaranteed to be an opponent for years to come. I have been disappointed with our lack of energy. I don't see that emotional desire that we want to win. Nevertheless, with all of that being said, we could have all of the emotional desire in the world to win, but desire without a plan still equates to a loss. Our quality of play has to improve, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

Until we get some real deal outside shooters that can score and some guys that can rebound with authority and some guys with more energy and intensity and better coaching, we gone be half azz.

Interesting lost, due to another meeting I didn't see the game. I just looked at the game stats and we were up by 10 at half time and no one fouled out, what happened? I did notice that our point guard lead us in rebounds which I found strange but what else happened in the 2nd half?

Right now this team does not have any umph. The Jones boys are not the Jackson boys of last year. We don't rebound with authority or when it counts. All year long the hustle has been lackadaisical. The coaching was bad as hell in this game. Those boys out hustled us and made big stops when necessary. We ain't got no shooters except Fred and he shot poor as hell tonight. Langley's drives to the hoop have been weak the last 2 games. We were fortunate to beat Charleston. This year may be long!! OMG ....Geez please stop !!! We have 2 starters not playing and the team was up by 16 but it’s gone be a long season !!!! And we 5 games in

Hopefully we get the 2 Dogs back by next week Harris and Parker both of them have that killer instinct. Kam is great but you can’t go for the kill shot when you can’t shoot anything other than layups....
It will be better for Harry playing with Parker and Harris on the floor

IMO this team is not bad at all just needs time to gel. Decent talent but no Jackson’s! There are a lot of new parts that need time to learn to play together. Parker and Harris are out but I do not know that they solve the chemistry problem. We have got to throw the ball in the post and force the bigs to get better. No confidence yet in the bigs it appears. We played well at times but the 5’10” guards driving into the paint and getting swatted has to stop. That should never happen at a legit D1. I’m hopeful for a decent Covid season from this team.
