still don't make it a "hotbed", not even close. every mainland state in america should have at least a hand full of notable players such as lance that are natives of their state and minnesota is no different. but if i had to choose, i'd much rather recruit from north and south carolina than minnesota. matter fact, i'd also rather recruit from georgia, virginia, maryland, and dc as well. far more talent in those regional states than minnesota. glad to have yeager but it wouldn't bother me one bit if we "never" sign any recruits from minnesota. there's far more talent within a 6 hour drive of greensboro than having to go all the way to doggone minnesota to recruit lesser talent. minnesota is one of the "last states" i'd hand pick to recruit from if i had a choice of any states in america. according to this ranking ("top football recruiting states"), minnesota ranks "35th" amongst the top states for blue-chip football recruits while north carolina is ranked "8th". again, what's so special about minnesota recruits? there's far more talent in this region of the country than minnesota...

minnesota talent is weaker than north carolina's talent. nothing "whatsoever" that's special about recruiting out of minnesota, its just another state and that's about it... Folks in Minnesota say the same thing about getting hockey players out of North Carolina! 😂😂 i don't know much about hockey, but if they say that in minnesota, i'd tend to agree with them...

It's about getting the best talent where you can find it. Let's be honest here, we are not at that point where we can easily grab blue chips ANYWHERE. And from my understanding we did NOT go all the way to MN to find the Yeager kid. It was by word of mouth by Jay Walker who is close with the family. The same thing happened with Bell all the way in WV. The more we get our name out there, the more kids from that area will want to come visit, which can open doors for us in a region we usually do not cover. That is all.

Not even worthy of any disagreement. Of course we'd all rather get guys closer to home (at least I hope we'd all rather do so since it's cheaper) but if a guy from across the country falls in our lap, we'll take him. I'm not seeing the disagreement here at all actually.
Are we still doin chicken?

Who was the last 2 star QB we signed from NC? or MD or VA or GA or AL or DC or FL? How many 2 star quarterbacks on this roster do we have that signed with us directly out of high school?

Minnesota isn’t as hot as even the 757 but some nice quality talent has come out of there, It’s where schools like NDSU and Former D3 power St Thomas pull kids from. It’s a nice statement we were able to pull an out of state kid away from Ivy league schools and South Dakota State, an FCS power. minnesota talent is weaker than north carolina's talent. nothing "whatsoever" that's special about recruiting out of minnesota, its just another state and that's about it... Don’t know how in tune you guys are with about the last decade or so of football recruiting, but N.C. has been a top 8 football state in the country for talent consistently for the past few years now. Reputation supersedes reality sometimes, but the state is always in that top 10% of football talent every year. The other better states are just below us minus Cali.

He’ll be a 3-Star in some publications. But to answer, he’s arguably the highest rated HS QB we recruited and landed in quite some time. I gotta think back to the Bill Hayes days or prior - and then I don’t think they were even doing star grades on FCS (1-AA) or HBCU kids then.

That is all. yeah, i agree that it wouldn't hurt to be able to recruit from any state in america including minnesota. but a&t is already located in a "talent rich" region of the country. if it were up to me, my #1 priority would be to sign north carolina talent because there's plenty of talent instate which means "less tuition" costs if we offer them scholarships. but to me, recruiting minnesota would not be a priority for me given that instate and surrounding states' talent are far more abundant. that's all i'm sayin', not sayin' don't recruit from minnesota or any other state...

247 Football had Hassan Klugh and Fowler were rated as 2 star players and Ifedi was 3 star by 247 So it’s been 6 years since we signed a 2 star QB out of NC and we have signed how many NC QBs since then? NC has more talent but there is also more competition

When you do chicken, stars don't matter. It's all about how the player fits in the system. And before anybody says we're in a higher echelon now, how many of our most celebrated players had any stars or any offers other than us?
While I think it's nice if a higher rated player comes aboard and pans out, that hasn't been our history or how we've made our bones. Our best players have been "humble but hungry." Getting dudes whose best years were in high school ain't our way.
Recruiting nationwide is expensive imo, unless all we're going to do is go by tape and how kids are rated and never see them or talk to them live. I guess the staff can watch games online and meet kids via zoom. That being typed when you're a looong way away from home for the first time and meet some adversity, how will you respond? How often will you even be able to go home for a visit or have family come see a game? I'm glad anybody chooses Ayantee. I'm far more glad if they graduate and have only positive things to say about their time.
Methinks if our profile has increased so that we can recruit nationally it also means our profile has increased so that we can compete better with other NC schools for talent. The profile doesn't increase one way and not another.
