When you do chicken, stars don't matter. It's all about how the player fits in the system. And before anybody says we're in a higher echelon now, how many of our most celebrated players had any stars or any offers other than us? While I think it's nice if a higher rated player comes aboard and pans out, that hasn't been our history or how we've made our bones. Our best players have been "humble but hungry." Getting dudes whose best years were in high school ain't our way. Recruiting nationwide is expensive imo, unless all we're going to do is go by tape and how kids are rated and never see them or talk to them live. I guess the staff can watch games online and meet kids via zoom. That being typed when you're a looong way away from home for the first time and meet some adversity, how will you respond? How often will you even be able to go home for a visit or have family come see a game? I'm glad anybody chooses Ayantee. I'm far more glad if they graduate and have only positive things to say about their time. Methinks if our profile has increased so that we can recruit nationally it also means our profile has increased so that we can compete better with other NC schools for talent. The profile doesn't increase one way and not another. You would think so but we shall see

A recruits desire to be successful on the football field cannot be measured by a star...see, Tarik Cohen, Elijah Bell and Daryl Johnson. Sometimes it's good to find talent where there aren't so many schools recruiting the state. Florida has been the football talent manufacturer for years, and look how many schools outside the state go there to recruit. And that's not counting in-state schools. So, while Florida might have the most blue-chip athletes in football but, what does that mean when it comes down to your chances to land that recruit? 59 blue-chip athletes and 200 schools recruiting those players...doesn't seem that the FAMUs, BCUs and Edward Waters' of the word are any better off by residing in the Florida when you talking recruiting top talent.

247 Football had Hassan Klugh and Fowler were rated as 2 star players and Ifedi was 3 star by 247 So it’s been 6 years since we signed a 2 star QB out of NC and we have signed how many NC QBs since tthen? NC has more talent but there is also more competition Right and that's where it becomes very hard to measure how much talent is out in the Midwest because North Dakota State doesn't does not have that much competition out there I mean we got North Carolina in our backyard mack Brown is getting three four and five star players

The Midwest is heavily recruited especially when it comes to LB , lineman both offense and defense . Also NDSU is unique because they have always recruited for their system and their needs unlike programs that are Starstruck NDSU care more about there evaluation on the player/players then they do about what some star rating system .A good example would be Elijah Bell the top receiver in the state of West Virginia a 3 star rated player in there state but the only offer he received was from A&T even after winning the Randy Moss award so stars don't mean squat if a player does not fit the system. NDSU competes against a number bigger programs West , North , South & East of the Mississippi for talent . They thing with them is they understand what is abundant in their region and good LB , D and O lineman are in abundance in the Midwest and are also system friendly to there program they just know how to recruit for there programs better then the rest . NDSU advantage is not the lack of competition in there region there advantage is they know and understand what is available in there region in numbers that fit their system. So using NDSU as an example is not the right program to use !

But you look biased about that statement since your son plays football in North Carolina I dont see how I'm any different. Everyone on this board has ties to some high school football player in NC. Everyone. Son, nephew, grandson, girlfriend's son, side piece's son, etc. I covered high school sports in NC for a paycheck at one point. Makes me a little more qualified to speak than just being a dad.
