That's a very good question and a very real possibility.

This is kind of crazy because it aint like the cancellations are over. Any conference can pull the plug at any time between now and when the season starts. They are just waiting it out longer. Not only the conf. the school itself has the liberty of pulling out IE Hampton. I even heard that in our case the UNC system can decide no state own school can play. He would be better going to a Power-5. Any FCS conf is in jeopardy of not playing

He hasn't officially left yet.
He could always take his name out of the portal (a la Hendon Hooker) if he cant find a suitable landing spot. I am just wondering if Hilton told the seniors that we dont have the money to bring them back an extra year even if they wanted to stay.

Transferring is not going to make or break his career at this point . If he is not already on the NFL radar playing a modified season is not going to help his stock rise . If the Coaches and administration gave a dame they would be lobbying to rap this season and have the NCAA grant the seniors this year back. Key's should take that year and attend graduate school .

Depending on how things are looking, we just might have the money. We're getting over $5 Million in student fees this semester and depending on our Season ticket sales, we could be getting another 6-figure amount from that. I believe it's coming down to wanting to play and improving potential draft or Free Agent prospects.

Thriller if A&T doesn't have the money they need to find the money . These kids have put there blood and sweat into this program they deserve that much . I think Hilton is an honorable man and will do the honorable thing by those youngmen .

Go back and look at his interview where he broke down in tears. One of the consequences of not having a Fall football season is that a number of senior players will simply not be able to remain on the roster.
We can't just find money that doesn't exist. Especially with a massive drop in revenue during this pandemic.

Right, good luck explaining the 12+ signees and their parents for this fall how, "we are working to get you some financial aid for this school year". This is if an extra year is granted to all current players. It honestly jacks your entire recruiting process up. We can't just pull x amount of dollars out of our you know where. The financial burden of trying to honor a granted extra year of eligibility, for those who want it and incoming freshman whom you've promised money to would probably be too much for our athletic dept to bear, especially in conjunction with reduced revenue from this season. (We haven't even discussed possible loss revenue from MBB not playing those early season nonconf tourneys and guarantee games if MEAC goes to conference only there as well).
Needless to say this situation could have some long term detrimental effects on this "Golden age" of Aggie Athletics, I hope not, but the bottom line (money) will determine that.

I thought some like this would happen is Martin next or McDainels Transfers are kind of stuck as they've used their 1-time transfer. However, any Seniors like Dante or Noel that played as true freshman are another story. Isn't Keys a redshirt senior?
