I went back to see the A&T/Central game on replay.....the atmosphere really projected extremely well on TV. The Central students were in it big time. I know there were discussions before about having one sideline in Corbett be filled with students. I think that needs to be reconsidered.
One other thing that I found amusing was how Kevin Keatts, the head coach of NC State, was just chillin' in the "VIP area" in M-M Gymnasium. My question is this - would NC State afford either Coach Jones or Coach Moton a chance to sit in a prime area at the RBC Center to watch NC State play UNC or Duke? I mean, my man was just up in there chillin' like he was the Chancellor of NCCU. I know he probably wanted to be around his folks, but didn't Central beat State a few years back (Gottfried was coaching then)? Isn't State DI like A&T/Central?. I don't get a sense he paid to be there either (I may be wrong - but I doubt it).
If this game was at A&T, ain't no way in hell I'd have Danny Manning, Tubby Smith, Roy Williams, Coach K, Keatts, or Wes Miller sitting in the cushy seats at Corbett like they're some kind of VIP.....just sayin'.

Yeah sometimes even officials get caught up in the emotion of the game, which is unfortunate because usually it results in the situation youare referring to in Durham. I heard a commentator the other day, I believe it was Paul Biancardi on the Hampton game give an official for waiting to see if a shot went in before calling a foul. He said since the shot didnt fall the official blew the whistle. I was a tad bit flabbergasted because if a defensive players impedes the progress of an offensive player and affects a shot attempt, IT IS A FOUL. If the shot is made, its and "and 1", if the shot is missed, its 2 shots. Point blank, period, end of story. A foul is a foul is a foul is a foul. You see it call it and administer the foul shots accordingly. in all due respect, often fouls are "judgement calls". some fouls are obvious which everybody can agree on, while other not so obvious so called fouls are not. not all contact is a foul, so there is a thin line between "incidental contact" which is not considered a foul, versus contact that results into an advantage for the offender. so the referee has to make a judgement when contact may be construed as incidental but could also be a legitimate foul. as a high school referee, i've seen instances where i would not have called a "slight bump" a foul had the offensive player been able to play thru it without impeding his speed or balance. but on that same play had the offensive player loss control of the ball or loss his balance, i would've called the foul. point being, not all potential fouls are undisputed fouls. so the official has to use his best judgement but he must be "consistent"...

As you know, these coaches have their own fraternity. Do we know for sure (or assume) that he didn't pay??
In the town that I live in, the D-I PWI basketball coach is a season ticketholder of the D-1 HBCU basketball program...and has been since before 2006. He rarely appears at games...but he's "financial," as Bill Hayes says.

Nolan Smith & Nate James from Duke were down there as well. Obviously there are some relationships that LeVelle has built. That's his prerogative. And Andre Miller (former NBA guard) was at the Durham game as a NBA scout. You can take a wild guess at who he was checking out. Side note: Wes Miller & Freddy Johnson (1,000 game winning HC at Greensboro Day School) were at our A&T/NCCU game as well. Freddy was sitting in the reserve section behind our bench. Wes & Freddie aren't exactly VIPs. But best believe the rest of Greensboro is taking note.

I understand all of that.....Freddy Johnson is a high school coach - he ain't a rival.....If anything, he needed to have been recognized on the jumbotron to butter him up and get some more players from his squads to A&T. Now if Wes Miller was up in there and he didn't have to pay to get in ------ we got problems.
I'm not cool with any DI head coach rolling up in the spot......WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY. Furthermore, to be in a prime location like Kevin Keatts was at the A&T/NCCU game - that didn't sit right with me. For all we know, NC State may not make the NCAA tourny and may end up playing NCCU in the 1st round of the NIT. I'd be pissed if I was an Eagle and those 2 teams played in the NIT.....and Keatts got a firsthand view of Eagle basketball just because the Eagles rolled out the red carpet for him in M-M Gymnasium without having to pay.
The Eagles on Onnidan have yet to respond to this question. They're arguing about something relatively unimportant.

He could have watched the game on TV like me and got the same first hand view. No big difference.

And the fact that Freddy was there is a really good sign moving forward, IMO. Point taken.
