MEAC to Host 2020 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 24, 2020—The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host the 2020 Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 27-29, at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md.

For the second straight year, FloSports, through its FloTrack platform, will stream Saturday’s action live.

Competition will begin on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the men's heptathlon, followed by the women's 5,000 meters and women's long jump at 2:15 p.m. The day continues with the men's 5,000-meter race and semifinals of the men's and women's 200-meter races.

Day one concludes with the men's long jump final.

The championships continue Friday, with the men's heptathlon at 9 a.m. Other field events on Friday's slate include the women's pentathlon, men's and women's high jump, and men's and women's weight throw. The student-athletes return to the track for the semifinals in the men's and women's 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash and 400-meter dash. The day closes out with the men's and women's distance medleys.

The competition concludes on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault, followed by the men's and women's shot put, men’s pole vault, and the men's and women's triple jump. Running events begin at 12:30 p.m. with the women's mile run. Rounding out the afternoon's events will be the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay race, startng at 3:40 p.m.

Admission for the Indoor Track and Field Championships is $10 on Thursday, $15 on Friday and $20 on Saturday. Fans can purchase a three-day pass on Thursday for $15, or a two-day pass on Friday for $20. Tickets are available at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex on the event dates.

if you've never been to the meac indoor track and field championships, then you've been missing a very energetic and spirited athletic environment. its held at a very nice first class indoor track facility (prince george's sports and learning complex which is a 10 minute drive from my house), its very well attended, all of the meac schools attend, each meac team can be distinguished in the stands by their school colors, the competition is "fierce", the fans are "loud", and the atmosphere is "tremendous"!

i almost fooled around and forgot that it was being held this upcoming weekend. but i went to my local fitness center tonight (which is in the prince george's sports and learning complex) where the meac indoor championships will be held and happen to see all of the promotion signs displayed in the center that the meac indoor championships was being held there this weekend.

unfortunately, i won't be able to attend the preliminary rounds on thursday and friday due to basketball games i'm scheduled to officiate. but i will be there on the most important day which is saturday when most of the finals will be held.

hopefully i will enjoy this year's finals as much as i did last year when both our men and women swept the meac indoor championships. heard a whole lot of "aggie pride" up in there last year, and i'm expecting to hear the exact same thing this year...

Watched the 200M prelims today in Landover! Sturgis and Grant from Norfolk State is going to be a helluva race in both the 60M and 200M. Freshman Ross looked outstanding making his 21.4 in the 200M look effortless; I did not realize he was like that in the 200M. The young man is impressive; hard to believe he is a freshman!Him, the young man from Coppin and our guy Stewart should be a barnburner in the 200m final Saturday! Ross and Stewart will be going neck and neck all year in the 400M!
