there is no way the words that coach ross stated can be construed to be directed to any hbcu coaches. certainly famu does not have a few more dollars than us and certainly famu coaches do not sit in "cushie" chairs and they do not have "cushie" jobs. it is clear to me that he is referring to schools/coaches that hbcu's are not expected to compete with. we are "expected" to compete with our fellow hbcu's, so how can that statement be directed to hbcu coaches? Oh no... don't get it twisted. This was a shot across the bow of any program that has said anything negative about the program Coach Ross is running. "none" of the adjectives he used describe hbcu coaches. yet on the other hand, "all" of the adjectives he used describe "bcs" schools. that's one helluva reach for you to construe his statements to be directed at "any" hbcu coaches. i was personally at the finals and i can tell you for a "fact" that none of the meac teams, none of the meac coaches, nor fans showed any "resentment" towards a&t whatsoever during the indoor finals and they had plenty of opportunities to do so given that a&t's name was announced "numerous times" over the pa system during the finals. i heard "zero" boo's coming from the crowd when a&t was being recognized over the pa system for our first place finishes. there is "nothing" in his statements that's indicative of hbcu's, i don't see how anybody can draw that kind of conclusion from his statements. famu's former women's coach don't even work at famu anymore or coach track anymore, so why would coach ross waste his time addressing someone who is not relevant and not even coaching anymore? he stated he was referring to coaches who have those "cushie jobs", not coaches who don't coach anymore. besides, neither of famu's teams were anywhere near being in contention for the indoor championships, neither of their teams even finished in the top 5, much less contend with a&t for a championship. accusing famu's former coach relative to coach ross's statements don't even make sense...

I'm in agreement with OSA. His statement wasn't meant for our MEAC brethren.....now if a FAMU coach said something like that, that's on him/her. Ross is checking the "elites" and telling them to step their games up. He's clearly stating these dudes are getting outworked/outperformed by an HBCU that may not have their resources, but want it more.
Keep talkin' that talk....but more importantly....keep walkin' that walk!

There was some hostility between A&T and Famu last year and was public. This was discussed after the outdoor championship on BDV. Apparently the female head coach from Famu made negative comments about A&T's program. This hostility may or may not have included other programs. It's probably buried in the spring thread on track.

that was summer before last, almost two years ago. i don't think coach waited two years to say something about that, nor should he be worried about a coach who is no longer coaching, nor a famu team that can't even finish top 5 amongst the men nor the women. just don't make sense...
