Bell did not get great releases from the line of scrimmages last night and that allowed the Duke corner to jump those early slant routes. Likewise, Leslie got bullied on the sideline when he tried to release outside on his fade routes.
It was a humbling experience, but JumpBall U found out what it is really like to go head to head against the big boys. That was not a MEAC secondary that they were competing with last night.

Duke has a very good and smart coach. He took away a lot of things the AGGIES like to do. The AGGIES played with the HEART of a CHAMPION and gain BIG RESPECT.

I thought Howard Stuckey and Wilder Played lights out.The return of Mac will help the guys up front regarding a pass rush. THE Key to season is a healthy Carter point Blank.

What we saw was the difference between a 60 million dollar budget and a 14 mil budget. If we played Duke 10 more times we'd get the same result.
I'd like to see us to stay away from the P5 programs.

I think we learned a lot about our team and the players learned a lot. Honestly, we did not get man handled or look like we didn’t belong on the field. The difference was a couple missed tackles, dropped passes and turnovers and blown coverages. From a talent perspective we stayed with them. We were out coached on the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully our coaches learned something too, they have to get better as well during the off season

This is Washington's only 2nd year as head coach......I agree that refusing the 3rd down penalty was huge. I also agree that not challenging the Bell fumble was big, even if the call would not have been reversed.
I really believe the reason he declined the 3rd down penalty was because he isn't use to teams going for it on 4th down on their own side of the field. I have a hard time believing any MEAC we play this year would go for it on 4th down on its own side of the field in the first half.....unless it was the last play of the first half.
Listen, we have played the best team we will have played ALL YEAR. There is a viable argument that we may have played the BEST 2 TEAMS we will play all year. We need to keep that in mind. Without a doubt, our coaches and players got a taste of what P5 football is all about. It was a learning experience for a lot of us.
With that being said, I'm travelling down to Charleston next week, expected us to be sharper and refocused and ready to beat the hell out of Charleston Southern. There were things we learned last night, but nothing to hold our heads down about last night.
One last thing......after seeing all those black athletes on the Duke field/sideline and thinking of the money such black athletes have generated for those non-HBCU programs, it does make Jemelle Hill's piece more poignant (and yes, I know her azz went to Michigan St.....but her point still stands).

All I want to know is 1. Did we walk away with no serious injuries? 2. Did Coach Washington get his money?

. Also they need to use Graves more for the inside running. Graves has yet to show me that he has the foot speed to be anything more than a spring game star. And that toss sweep to him late in the fourth quarter had no chance of gaining positive yards. Graves is not a toss sweep back and it would be useless to use him that way . Graves is a North South Runner that will Bang between the tackles . Backs like Graves should be used to soften up the defense and occupy the linebackers for backs like Martin and Baker . A banger back is more then just a lead blocker . What we need to find is another Cartright type back . We have the speed but we don't have a consistent inside Runner .

We'll know for sure tomorrow at the press conference but it appears right now to be more a lot of jams, bumps, and bruises but nothing season ending for anyone.

Good win for Duke...they did what they were exepcted to do, although we made it interesting for much of the 1st half..
I say this now but one day a FCS HBCU will beat a P5 school....and I hope it is A&T!

Our linebackers are no joke. That running QB was the only thing that got to them...actually those 3 to 4 yard passes did too. BTW That goal line stand was good. There was a no call until seconds later after more in-fighting.

i'm not down with all of this "criticism" of the team. i'm very "proud" of our team given the budget differences and scholarship differences between us and duke. and i know one thing for sure, that duke's players, coaches, and fans were very "shocked" that our aggies came into their stadium "unafraid" and really took it to their azzes for 2 quarters.
you could hear a "needle drop" (except for aggie fans) in wade stadium until momentum changed after the bell fumble. i think the fumble and coach declining the penalty is what changed the momentum in duke's favor.
thing is, when you play a physically more superior "bcs" team, you can't make mistakes like that because they will make you pay. but until those two things happened, we were right in that game and duke was stunned to see how well we played.
i'm just glad its over with, onto charleston southern...

Fourth-down blues: A&T stung by loss to analytical Duke offense By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.com Sep 10, 2019 Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe talks with N.C. A&T's Joseph Stuckey and Antoine Wilder after the game in Durham. Stuckey had a game-high 15 tackles and Wilder made 14. Woody Marshall/News & Record GREENSBORO — To go, or not to go? That is the question. At least when it comes to fourth down and short yardage. N.C. A&T is back at football practice this week, coming off a 45-13 loss at Duke in a money-making guarantee game. The Aggies fell three spots to No. 17 in the FCS Coaches’ Poll, and the $350,000-plus payday from a Power Five program does little to salve the wound of a loss. “Any game you lose stings a little bit,” A&T senior linebacker-safety Antoine Wilder said. “I don’t care if we’re playing Alabama, we’re trying to win. I don’t believe in that whole, ‘It’s an FBS and you’re expected to lose.’ We don’t expect to lose. They put on pads just like we put on pads. They tie their cleats the same way we do.” But they approach fourth down differently. I have the utmost confidence in the way they coach but looking at what Cutcliffe's been able to do with perpetually suffering Duke, I'm just sayin'. A change in mindset could really put stress on opposing teams. Granted, it could put stress on our team if it results in bad field position but it appears the book addresses all that in detail.
