Dont worry about the stars or the first team all state selection. Just watch his tape.

Guys like Monroe are fishing. After watching Clemson & Alabama, we likely all would be as 17-year 3-star prospects. Gotta let this play out. Stars should not be the reason why we recruit this kid . For one by him being right here in Greensboro T's coaching staff are already familiar with him . I know when I was recruiting players the first question I would the HC and staff and myself " Is this kid better are can he distance himself from the players that we already have , not so much the starters but all at his position . Now if the answer is yes but . I would say let's address our priorities first . If a DB is not a priority you recruit that priority and work your way back . Also any good recruiter trust's his gut feelings when deciding whether to recommend to the head coach are not recommend to offer a ship . The question I asked is this what are the priority positions that A&T needs the most ? I would see the cornerback position for us being a Need being that we just lost #14 T. Abram and there is a slight chance that Mac isn't back at the start of the season. That leaves us with McNeil, Derrick Williams, and #36 on the depth chart. Being that this man is 6'2" 180 (FBS size cornerback) and ive seen him, he can play. IF we haven't offered him then im going to have faith that
A. The coaches have found someone better B. the coaches are in the works C. they know something that we don't.
Either way I know they have it under control. Im not worried.

This is my thinking as well. I've looked at the kids tape. He is at the very least an FCS talent. He has great instincts and his length makes it very hard to throw over the top. I'm assuming we are offering better DBs(out of state or juco) and waiting to see where they are leaning before offering him. OR........ I'm curious as to why he hasn't been offered by bigger schools. Is there something that stands out after you dig deeper? I say this because he is ranked #10 among DBs and ATHs in NC(#7 at just CBs). You have FBS commits at those positions going all the way down to #23 and about 4 of those are Power 5 commits. The rest are like ECU, APP, and Coastal type offers. He only has 2 known offers (Kent state and Chattanooga). Why is that? A&T are not the only ones dragging their feet for a reason that only recruiters seem to know. This isn't a size thing like it was with Cohen. he clearly is built for the position. So this #1 talk that Thrilla is talking about I have no clue, LOL. And Thrilla YOU know I have an interest in how CBs are ranked! FYI, #1-5 CBs are going Power 5. #6 is headed to Charlotte. #8 to ECU, #9 to UNC, #10 to NC State, #11 to Charlotte, #12 to App, #13 to Marshall. But #7(Monroe) has a Kent State offer at best???

I said he was the best CB in the state, not No. 1 ranked. Those ranking lists are very subjective.
My evaluation system has always been different and more accurate than other recruiting services.
BTW: Lil Monster is currently in my top 50 list of DBs to watch in 2019.

Good news is that 6 of the 8 have log some minutes in rotation. I am not aware of Simon or Jones playing much last year other than maybe special teams.
McNeil got thrown a completely in the fire when McCain went down and he played well playing through some of his emotions!! The kid I really want to see step up this year is Najee Reems.

Emanuel Phillips is not listed. He will probably start until Mac gets back.

Not many in that group are true corners, mostly safeties. We really need to address the corner position.

This same thing happened with Zariek Rush last year, until I had to publicity shame them into offering the kid a scholarship. I am not sure what is up, but it seems we might have a blind spot when it comes to evaluating local talent. Rush should have been a no-brainer and Monroe is probably an even better prospect.

Kid is no where close to being best DB in the state. Would be a great pickup but we won't die if we dont sign him

First team all state ... but nowhere close to being the best DB in North Carolina? OK.
You are just biased because you are a Smith grad.
