Fallout of the 4-game redshirt rule. Policy does have affects on behavior.

clemson's previous starting qb did the same thing, he decided to transfer because the head coach gave his starting job to the backup...

The starter before Bryant was Deshaun Watson. He ain't transfer nowhere but to the NFL.
I remember this cat at Alabama left after the first game against Florida State and went to a juco a few years ago because Saban made Hurts the starter. Now these cats are playing in several games and then straight up leaving.

I cannot blame them. These schools and coaches promise EVERYTHING and millenials, "Are like nawl B, I want what you said you were going to give me and I want it now. I also want what I want."

As I've said on other threads, "Guys in this generation JUST DON'T WANT TO COMPETE ANYMORE."

I'm sorry but I'm not going to feel sorry for these guys. If this was a scholarship engineering student they would be allowed to transfer so why not a athlete? Now coaches will have to work harder to keep these players on the team.
By the way, if this was your son would you advise him to stay at Clemson and ride the pine?

I'm with the kids on this one ,big time college athletics makes billions off of their backs ,so if they are not happy for whatever reason ,they should leave . The new red shirt rule made this possible so it's within the rules .

Coaches are basically selfish people. They don't want a Jalen Hurt or some other player transferring and come back with another team and beat you. So why not persuade the player to hang around with promises of a lot of playing time and earning your spot back, only to wither on the vine. A smart player will go to some school that has had success in developing players at their position. Hoping to make it to the pros.

I wouldn’t transfer in the middle of a semester, period. Not if I was a serious student. I know, I know, they trying to be pro athletes but still. In Bryant’s case they been waiting for sunshine to take his spot since he showed up on campus last year. Shouldn’t have been a surprise.

In Bryant’s case they been waiting for sunshine to take his spot since he showed up on campus last year. Shouldn’t have been a surprise. "The demotion fell at a favorable point on the schedule for Bryant. The NCAA loosened its restrictions on redshirting this season. Players can now appear in a maximum of four games without sacrificing a year of eligibility. If Bryant played a single snap against Syracuse, his college career would be over in January. By withdrawing from the remainder of the season, he will be eligible to play immediately at another program next year." Again... it's all about the redshirt rule change. Kids are adjusting their strategy. And I think kids can redshirt and finish their current semester out. www.nwahomepage.com/pig-trail-nation/clemson-s-kelly-bryant-will-redshirt-leaving-program-following-demotion/1476759688Bryant got his undergrad degree already, BTW. clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/kelly-bryant/

Just thinking out loud but football player grad transfers really only need to enroll in Grad School as football season is over before second semester starts. I wonder how many guys nationally dont take advantage of the year of grad school and just simply dont come back after football season / first semester ?

I'm sure many take advantage of the educational opportunity, if not they are doing a disservice to themselves. They can transfer those credits towards another degree where ever they decide to go or stay. An education should still be their goal.
