Before I would even suggest that we need field turf, how much are we spending annually to maintain the field at Aggie Stadium? If we are not spending at least $20,000-25,000 a year on maintaining the field then that's the problem. The field looks great until late October, then someone decided it's OK to be brown for the rest of the season, as long as it's green for Homecoming. NC State and Carolina don't decide that. The school has the money but someone has decided to spend it on other things that they deem more important. The only advantage to field turf is maybe additional revenue opportunities but... I like grass. It used to be between 40 and 50 for all the fields including the stadium. I don't know what it is now...

Do you know if that is from the athletics budget or the facilities budget? The reason I ask is to know who decides exactly how the money is spent. If it is facilities, they may not do what is best for athletics.

Great. That makes the whole idea of field turf vs grass a decision within athletics which is good. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.

Outside of this board, has anyone voiced a complaint? If they don't care it won't change.

During these slow Aggie sports days, I've been rewatching a lot of A&T football on Youtube and I noticed something...these last few seasons, our field looked great. In fact very early in the season it looks almost like artificial turf in some games.
I just wanted to point that out because some years it's looked like crap! Now just as I compliment the stadium grown crew the field will look like crap this season. I'm hoping for great grass and lots of victories in Aggie Stadium this fall!

FWIW, the field was aerated and likely oversown over a week ago. I'm looking forward to how we manage it differently over the fall/winter with the extra $125K gift.

With all the heavy rain we've had this summer, the field should be in great shape, especially if they airated it. Heck with all the rain I've had to cut my yard twice a week. Early in the season, Aggie Stadium (DBA...BB&T) should look and play well.

Given 5 home games & 2 bye weeks... the grass should be in very good shape for GHOE.
