Reminds me of a late 70s holocaust movie. I'm trying to get a kid whose brother plays on my son's soccer team to consider Ayantee. He's looking at Vandy and Alabama (and they looking at him) but I got his mama convinced he should look at T as well. She added us to his "interested" schools and they plan to drive through this summer on a tour of schools he's interested in. I PRAY we've done something by then. Is he a Baseball player ?

What's truly sad is that the white plastic garden chairs that I photographed last year are currently in the exact same spot. SMH. That is a perfect example of just how much neglect this stadium has endured by our athletic department. They don't even care enough to remove junk chairs from the bleachers. Damn. Wish I lived closer. Would love to help organize a BDV day of cleaning. Get a bunch of us out there for a day and get that place all cleaned up, looking nice, and shame the hell out of the administration for not doing it themselves. With our luck, we'd probably get arrested for trespassing.

I'm willing to volunteer an entire when team is on thr road to help in any way possible Get a couple pressure washers and get rid of all the old paint, let it dry and then apply some coats of paint to concrete, back walls, press box, any color of coaches choice. I have to believe Coach Hall wouldn't mind if fans offered to assist in this effort. Just need someone to spearhead this initiative. This won't be a permanent solution just a temporary one to get us through til permanent one is put into place. Sign me up.

I've watched some historic projects in the National Capital Region get refurbished, so it is likely everything that is touched on site may have to go through the historic preservation commission. They do meet monthly though. An Architect was hired to do a study last year. www.gvsa.com/projects/north-carolina-at-war-memorial-stadium/

Watching Wake at UNCG and they have what I’m assuming A&T would be going for the when they demolish the old side bleachers w/ a grass area. And it’s got a good amount of people out there, even in the cold. Kids playing especially. Nice concourse, current look for the dugout, standard grade press box, they have a nice wall area and so do we so that’s a good start. About equal in terms of looks of the scoreboard between both.
One thing that could be a major advantage to us than most when looking at other low major D1 stadiums is the outside of the stadium when you pull up. If we could just pressure wash and cut the grass bordering it would do numbers. UNCG has a nice standard look to the inside of the stadium, but from the street you’d mostly miss it. If we can play into even the outside look it’d help so much.

Reminds me of a community project I got to work on back in 1999 refreshing Satchel Paige Stadium in Kansas City. At the time it looked like War Memorial currently looks. Parks & Recs along with a little help from the great Buck O'Neil organized a volunteer event to repair the place. Major companies supplied materials and volunteers...about 400 as I recall over a 3 day period. Totally transformed the place. Wish we could do something similar.

That would require the folks in A&T's athletic department to put their ego to the side, stop making lame excuses and ask for help.
I dont think they are capable of doing any of that right now.

Goodness gracious. We got the No. 1 team in the nation coming to our place tomorrow afternoon.
The optics of having their fans sit in rusted, broken down seats is gonna be cringe-worthy. I am sure they will be laughing about War Memorial on social media as soon as the game is over.
I almost wish we could move this game to the Grasshoppers' stadium.

Hopefully, we can put up some signs like this around the building;

Hopefully, we can put up some signs like this around the building; I know that they’re literally aware that it isn’t up to par and that something will need to be done, but they clearly don’t see the full scope of how bad the optics are for the place if they would willingly let the #1 team in the nation pull up there. Like, a certain amount of pride/shame would definitely have you avoiding doing something like that. They still don’t FULLY get how trifling it is. But I guess they also have the entire nation pull up for track meets at the football stadium that’s completely rusted everywhere where there’s paint too so

2 weeks later and still no tarp?
Simple things can be done right now to improve the aesthetics at War Memorial Stadium.
