On Thursday 9/19 we African Americans were wearing black, united to stamp out injustice done to us by, 'others'. So on Saturday we were attacking eachother and now we say someone will lose their job if the game is cancelled? This is hypocritical and what kind of message does it send to the young men involved in this and to the students of both schools. Actions have consequences. If I acted up as a child mama took my bike and that was it bottom line. I got it back eventually, but if my unruly behavior continued she gave me a little dose of some, 'act right'(i.e. whuppin) and moved on. We can't have it both ways. NCCU was classless, A&T naturally reacted and this is what we have now. The game probably does need a cooling off period. I hate to see it ended, but if you step away and look at the big picture it's the right thing to do. This violence and us apologizing for it, or turning a blind eye has to stop. This kind of behavior has no place at esteemed institutions of higher learning.

Everyone's making a big deal about the brawl but schools like Duke & UNC have incidents that happen like this all the time!!!

It doesn't matter Dooms, Fobbs was screaming at the refs, the staff was scraming , and the players, the fans - this offficiating crew looked the other way just kept rolling the clock.

Who saw the "brawl?"
I was under the stands as it was happening buying a t-shirt and I didn't even know it was going on. Nobody else seemed to notice either. The media has portrayed it as some huge broohaha. It wasn't.
Why cancel a game that makes both schools a ton of money because the players acted like monkeys? It makes more sense to insure they learn from their mistakes. We're still an institution of higher learning, right? Why take away the opportunity to teach these boys to act like civilized men in the future?
I guess we're saying they don't have that ability.
As for this band thing, hell, get the tape and send it to whoever's conference those clowns came from. I'm sure that contributed to the post-game party as much as the calisthenics on the mascot. THE OFFICIATING CREW DOES NOT DESERVE TO EARN A PAYCHECK FOR THAT ERROR.

My wife recorded it all on her digital camera and there is no question how this thing got started, who instigated it, and that three of NCCU's staff was in the middle of the mess egging it on.

It won't happen. The NCCU/Durham rationalzation is at work. Show up as an invited guest, crack you across your head in your own house and claim it was your fault.

They WERE complaining about the band. During a timeout Herb went up to Shelton and told him that the ref's told the coaches that HE had to be the one to say something before they did anything.

He said something and the refs did nothing.

I did not know that NCCU's Band hogged the halftime show and we had to rush on the field with just a few minutes of playing time. I was reading these statements from another article about the fight:
"The emotion might have been exacerbated by NCCU's band.
First, the band jammed for the vast majority of halftime, not letting A&T's band on the field.
Eventually, as it became obvious to the crowd, the A&T fans began booing NCCU's band. Then, as A&T's band had to hustle off the field after a truncated performance, NCCU's band started playing again and pretty much played for the rest of the evening -- even during the plays".
Why would their band director allow them to do this? That really shows they have no class and came to instigate a fight! The sad part about it, is that they had been performing that same show for the last 4 games.

I will in the next few days when my schedule lightens up. I have no problem with that.
I just as soon see NCCU and their thug mentality within that athletic program completely drop of the edge of the planet at this point.
I'm way older than any of you guys so let me bring you up to date on the Eagle shenanigans over the years. These guys turned over a team bus in the 60's after they won, busted out car windows of A&T fans and driven cars onto the the middle of the field while play was going on in the 70's, started the worst basketball fight I've ever seen in anywhere in the 80's in Corbett, and now this. Enough is enough.
I've heard all the arguments these last few days about keeping this thing going - the money, the tradition, the fan interest, and all the rest but I'm sorry.
I just don't have any use for them anymore.

A-1, I understand your sentiments but I'm not for painting a whole institution for the actions of 50 assholes over a period of 40 years. That's probably because I don't want somebody coming up to me saying "oh you went to A&T. You must be a hooligan. I saw that fight."
It's pretty simple. Hold people accountable for their actions. If they turn over a team bus have their a$$ prosecuted. If they bust out car windows call the police. They start a fight, let the authorities handle it. They jump on a piece of painted dirt, ignore it and get revenge by beating their a$$ the next year and send copy of the tape to every media outlet around.
If we sit here and complain and don't do anything then we have no right to complain.
Tape of the fracas has already surfaced on one online service. It shows absolutely nothing. If you have tape that incriminates Eagles, hell and Aggies for that matter, you should try to free up the schedule pronto. What took place was wrong and people are going to have to learn to act like civilized adults.

I just don't have any use for them anymore. I feel you A-1! I was at that game when dude drove right onto the field with his car at Wallace Wade Stadium. He got out of the car and started dapping some of the Eagle players, before the cops chased his butt into the stands. All those ghetto Eagles were cheering like crazy, as if it was the greatest thing in the world. Ofcourse, he did all of this near the end of the game when A&T had no chance of winning it! Why are they so obsessed with A&T?
