(If Dee cancels the game (I doubt she does) she will be fired. I guarantee it.) If she cancels the NCCU game she REALLY does not have a clue or understand what this rively means to both schools......... She is soooooooooooo got damn stupid if she cancels!!!!!!!!! I seriously doubt that. If the game is canceled, it means that it came out of a decision by the Chancellors' cabinet...and the UNC General Administration weighed down on us and NCCU. Additionally, for some reason when POC do something idiotic, negative or just fcuked up then we will make the news. Its always going to happen. Hell, if we owned the paper we would've put it in the news. Thats what happens.

The press has a lot to do with raising the level of outrage. A lot of fans who were at the game didn't know anything about the post game melee. When the interception occurred, a lot of fans started walking to the exits. I thought the statements by the NCCU athletic department and football coach were weak. This is not the first time we have been on the national news when it comes to a fight with NCCU (basketball game in 89' or 90'). The move by the NCCU FB team was classless. I saw a majority of the NCCU players (not a few like some published reports) rush to middle of the field, and stomp on the logo. Talk about inciting a riot! I'm an old dude, and even I got mad The band playing during game play has been another issue. This is the second home game we have had the guest band playing like they are the only ones in the stadium! I was especially disappointed when the Band played during an injury. One penalty was called against the Aggies Offense (illegal procedure) and that penalty could have been attributed to the band playing. Playing during play on the field is not permitted, the officials (zebras) should have warned both teams. We are astute fans, HOWEVER, booing NCCU's band for "apparently" going over their alloted time was out of order. Each band has nine minutes. Now to recognize Bill Hayes during half time, and other special presentations cut into the bands time. Bill Hayes and the contributors to the band should have been recognized during the game, not during the half (use the big screen during timeouts!!). In the same breath, halftime needs to be managed better. Immediately after the game, I was told some University officials were considering pulling the plug on the game next year. And Dee Todd wasn't the only one talking about it, she just happened to be the most vocal about it. (Not smart Dee, exercise diplomacy). A lot of this could have been prevented with a little extra security(?). Coaches warning their players that any misconduct will result in a lost educational opportunity at their respected school of higher learning. This is not the first time two FB teams have gotten after it, and unfortunately not the last. But preventive measures need to be taken so something like this does not ever happen again. This game is a huge money maker (win-win, no matter what the score). I think it would be financial suicide for both institutions to no longer play each other. It is very expensive to run an athletics program and a show we can't get our act together.

There will be recommendation by the Chancellor a vote this afternoon by the BOT as to whether to suspend this series or keep playing and not the Dee Todd alone. So let's keep the facts straight on how this thing will play out.
Keep in mind NCSU and East Carolina stopped playing for a good while each other because of violence and bad behavior by the fans.
This is not like there is a lack of a precedent for violence between these two schools, the Corbett disaster back some years ago, but the attacks on A&T fans, and property dating back as far back to the late 1960's whenever A&T traveled to Durham. Too often fans are clouded by emotion and personal wants when it comes to playing games against certain opponents.
The Professor is right in that creditability and image are more important as to whether we play NCCU or not. No doubt about us taking financial hit in the shot term but sometime and somewhere a line has to be drawn in the way we as black folk conduct ourselves in public and how we should treat each with due respect or in this case a total lack of respect.
I know I am a lone voice on this but I for one have had my fill with the thug mentality and any element associated with it. I expect a vote by the trustees to end the relationship for two years minimum if not longer.

As far as the band playing, why isn't our coach complaining to the ref about it? What coach (or qb for that matter) wouldn't complain to the ref?
I guess that's another new thing for the coach to learn. Yes, you can complain to the refs about the band playing and the refs will give a warning and then a penalty.

He did Dooms thoughout the game, and the officials ignored him like he wasn't there.

I'd have to see that to believe it. If he complained once and they ignore him we'd already see a sidebar story about how he made a complaint to the conference office and sent a game tape.
He might have been complaining about something and getting ignored, but methinks it couldn't have been the bands' playing. If he was ignored and he complains to the conference those guys will be sitting at home this weekend.
Were they MEAC refs?

I hope we find a way to work things out but I won't be upset if we don't.

One of the coaches was complaining and clearly pointing toward the NCCU band. The refs barely even looked at him.

Again, where are the refs from and has the conference office been alerted?

It's unlikely that these were MEAC offcials, this was a non-conference game on our home field.

1. Which coach? 2. Was the band playing? 3. Has Fobbs followed up? Not sure but I think it was Adams. From about 6:41 left in the game they played each time we had the ball and did not pause once the play began. If someone has a game tape there's no disputing it. The weird thing in all of this is that our guys seemed to get more focused and played a ton better when NCCU started doing this.

During that 2 minute drive, Herbert pointed several times toward the NCCU band in an attempt to get the ref to make them stop playing. The ref did nothing. I saw that with my own eyes.
