Associated Press did an article on Joe Moglia, current football coach at Coastal Carolina.
Moglia was supa successful in the business world where he worked for Merrill Lynch and later became CEO at the giant investment brokerade firm, TD Ameritrade. He currently holds the title of Chairman of the Board at TD Ameritrade. So, in otherwords, he is worth MEGA bucks.
What is most interesting is that he was a football coach before he got in the investment business and now he has come full circle.
With over 20 years coaching experience Moglia was an Executive Advisor to Bo Pellini, head football coach at the University of Nebraska. Hall of Fame former Nebraska Head Coach Tom Osborne roundly endorsed Moglia for the Coastal job.
No wonder they got a new giant scoreboard with "Big Pockets" Moglia calling the shots.
It would be great to welcome Moglia in his debut by turning loose some BULL DOGGS on his azzzz!!! ;D

The guy has a very compelling story: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jon_wertheim/09/28/nebraska.asst/index.htmlThis story is from when he was an unpaid assistant at Nebraska. I hope we beat him into early retirement, but looking at how the game went last year and the fact we have nothing to base what they're running now off of except maybe some old offensive tapes from Georgetown and defensive tapes from Bucknell...

Maybe we should look at some old Nebraska video/tape.

If he is a Nebraska guy I would expect they will attempt to be very physical - with a game plan to blow us off the line on either side of the ball

I've been reading their pre-season reports. He's not a "Nebraska guy" per se. He appear to be a manager type of head coach, which is what a head coach is supposed to be in my opinion.
They're running an uptempo no-huddle spread offense, probably predicated on what the defense gives them. Mehinks they'll try to pick us apart with short passes and then hit us with bombs and draws.
Their offensive coordinator came from Georgetown and their defensive coordinator came from Bucknell, so that's where I'd be looking. Watching old Nebraska video will only show us inaccurate Taylor Martinez taking off and running all game.

I wouldn't consider him a Nebraska guy. In reading the article, my take away is he was there to make contacts and more importantly, learn how to manage a football program top to bottom. Though I agree that head coaches need to be good managers, but good football coaches need an excellent understanding of the nuances of the game in addition to the big picture. This is traditionally achieved by success progression through the ranks. I’m not sure if he was a good coach before he went the corporate route, but twenty years away from the game didn’t make him a better coach. CCU better hope his assistants are excellent.

i'm not comfortable with this game at all. only because of how they took it to us last season and the fact that we've never beaten them before. i'm just hopeful that we learned a great deal from playing them last season and will be better prepared this go round since our coaches and team now has a full year under their belts.
not a lot you can do about scouting a coaching staff/team that we don't have any film on. we can try to "anticipate" what ccu will do, but the bottom line is that our coaches will just have to be prepared to make adjustments during the game...

Well fellas...that's why they line up and play the game. On paper, they could look like the NY Giants if you stare at it long enough. So, to look at a roster and determine the outcome is not good enough for me anymore. I did the same thing last year when we went to Baltimore and beat Morgan like a tenor drum. Morgan had the size and experience on us...so that fallacy does not hold water anymore. I don't expect us to go down and beat them but, I do expect a much better showing than last year.

thats probably the best call oldschool. In addition we were a short handed one dimensional team last year that got better as the season progressed
the question I would love to ask Broadway would be: How do we compare talent wise to his best GSU or NCCU team ?

I get that. You cannot always look at the roster. But we have never won against this team and you got to understand this is only Broadway second year. you still have the same team that went 1-10 with addition of a couple transfers, red shirts and the freshmen class. I realize they are playing better and we have a better staff but that don't always translate into wins when we play the better schools.
Also its a different Football game when we play the white schools. I remember when we played Appalachian I can't describe it but was not the typical black on black school game that we are so use to playing.
But I am going to keep my head up that we can!!!!!!

We will beat Coastal. My opinion is based on a head coach that's been out the game for 20 years VS a team that's improved by leaps and bounds since we last played them and with a head coaching veteran.
Coastal got their staff together earlier enough where they could get plenty of work in, but that staff has not seen one live game together. Their first game is against the likes of Broadway and company with tons of returners on both sides of the ball. Good luck with that! Not to mention that the guy wasn't that great of a coach when he was coaching. Did he just all of a sudden get better with no practice?

It was said that their offense will attempt to play fast. Their starting QB is transferring in from South Carolina.
I would say that we have a decent chance to win this game. Hopefully, with playmaking additions on offense (frosh and transfers), Gorham etc. and defense with "Little Darrell Green/Ed Reed" D. Graham (#21) coming back we have the potential to get off to a good start.
If we hit 'em in the mouth early..........

Their starting qb transfered in from South Carolina a few years ago. He was the guy that lit us up last year.
