Does anyone of you know exactly what they are doing to the practice field. They have excavated at least 75% of the practice field and they still have big earth movers out there. They have also been bringing in truck loads of dirt and spreading it over parts of the field. If any of you know what is going on please let us know. Kev, do you have any pictures of the work being done or know what is going on?

Hmmm...are they putting down a new surface for the practice field??? Sounds a little more than just reseeding the current field.

I dont know, but I hope they are done by June 23rd. The state USATF qualifiers are at Aggie Stadium and I need somewhere to setup my tent. The bleachers are terrible in late June!

humm? interesting. yeah, earth movers sounds a lot more serious than simply reseeding the surface. i'm only guessing but it sounds to me that they're either putting down some new sod or perhaps maybe even an artificial surface.
either way, given the construction of our new pressbox and now apparently the practice field, obviously we're not as broke as some folk led us to believe (unless its being paid by a corporate sponsor or the aaf).
hopefully its an artificial surface...

I don't know all of the details but I understand that part of the practice field is currently not level and they are bring in dirt to fix that problem. I believe the track meets use our practice field for the javelin competition and a flat surface is required. I'm sure someone can verify this info.

I took a few pics last week . I think whatever they are doing pertains to track since they are not tearing up the whole football practice field . imageshack.us/g/195/dscn1366v.jpg/

My thoughts are they would put artificial turf at Aggie Stadium then the team can practice on it and play on it. Sooooo it's got to be for the javelin.

Same here, makes no sense to do the when you can just do the main field and be done with it. On a side note, I saw the Durham County Stadium renovation for the first time up close Saturday. A&T needs to hire whomever did their field. They did the field and track there. We would just need the field.

Durham County Stadium really looks good but remember it was done with tax payer money. Hell, we can't even get people to spend money for spots on the scoreboard! And by the way, the javelin event is held on the playing field inside Aggie stadium. The discus and the hammer throws are held on the practice field.

We would just need the field. the reason i'd suggest putting artificial turf on the practice field is because i believe (if i'm not mistaken) we've been told that the aggie stadium field has an underground drainage/irrigation system that would be deemed "useless" if we installed an artificial surface. if true, whatever we paid for that system would go down the drain (no pun intended) if we purchased field turf...
