After eight long months, the wait is overPosted: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 8:00 am | Updated: 11:56 am, Thu Apr 19, 2012. Karmen Robinson, Sports Editor (A & T Register) After much delay and anticipation the press box is finally complete. For almost a year, a series of issues including inclement weather, management changes, and subcontractor problems prevented completion of the $4.9 million project. Construction of the press box began last April according to Kofi Yiadom, A&T’s university project manager. A&T officials thought the five month window from April to August would be ample time for the project to be completed.... Well we do have wait on the order to be filled before putting the thing up there. That's really big logo that has to be made from scratch.

LOL, naw, not quite that long but it will take a few weeks after we get through a few of these early spring track meets like this weekend and certainly well after graduation.

My wife told me about it, and it was in the News & Record (sports page) today. It could have been on A&T's web site but I don't know for sure. They had a good crowd in attendance. They even had food and drinks for those in attendance. Mike Simmons was there taking pics so there may be some pics posted later. This was my first time seeing the inside of the press box. I was impressed but not overly impressed. It is really nice but somehow I was expecting more. The chancellor's box is very nice and big. To me, the roof has the best view for watching a game.

N.C. A&T opens its new Aggie Stadium SkyboxN.C. A&T concluded the 12-month, $4.2 million construction of its new skybox at Aggie Stadium with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by around 100 people on Wednesday morning. It's around 10,000 square feet -- improving on the 800 square feet the previous skybox encompassed, according to Andrew Perkins, A&T's assistant vice chancellor of facilities and engineering -- and includes three floors. Perkins said the project came in on budget and about eight months late, as difficulties with the original contractors for the job forced them to make a change last August and miss the estimated September deadline. From the article:
The third floor ("Chancellor's Level") includes two lease suites that hold 12 people each and the Chancellor's Suite, which holds 54.
The second floor ("Press Level") includes two more 12-person lease suites as well as space for media, operations and home and visiting coaches.
Perkins said all four lease suites are sold out for the upcoming season and each has a waiting list that numbers around 30.
Looks the projected revenue stream won't be a problem...
