There is an obvious generational gap in this debate . I would say that the 40 and over alumni are not bothered by playing wssu but the 40 and under are overwhelming in playing the game especially 25 and below For example yesterday the most retweeted tweet in Greensboro yesterday was a tweet by a very popular young A&T alumni which stated that both ram and aggies should do a a protest by calling in to our athletic directors and demanding that they bring the I-40 classic back.

Meh... I'm 25 and I say let it fade into memory especially if A&T is serious about winning in the post season.

Im starting to feel like its unfair for Winston to step down in division and still expect A&T to be a automatic game. Despite the rivalry or tradition WSSU's move back to the CIAA really affects the game more than we realize and in as much as the "rivalry" is needed the progress of A&T athletics is more vital. Can one game hinder our progression? I don't think that's for us to decide and the person that's supposed to already has.
So I will miss the game and hope they bring it back, but if I had to choose between being a more competitive program vs. playing a in-state rival then the answer is clear.

Fellas, this is just the kind of hype we need to have for every football game. I don't care what team you're rooting for... WSSU...A&T... Elon or Sisters of the Poor. You want people ready to march in the streets to see them play. I love it! It's January 19th and there are a bunch of folks at both schools that are ready punch each other out over this "possible" game some 9 months away. Hell I bet there will be more trash talking the day the football schedules are finally published. So I think this is great. We need to start right now taking trash about every college team within a damn 4 state market. Just in case they end up on our schedule. Sure we will have to eat some crow if we get our butts beat but I bet there will be a lot more people in the stands. Yes Blue Death fans, our new football strategy is to go out and pick a damn fight with everybody and start colecting the ticket money.
Oh by the way, I think we should keep talking major league trash to and about WSSU and not play them again until the 2013 season. Then go rent some portable bleechers for Aggie Stadium to hold all the mad Rams that will show up to kick our butts. Man what a grudge match! Go Aggies!!!!

there wouldn't be "as much" renewed hype of playing winston again if winston hadn't had such a good season. if they were still 1-10 like they were 3 years ago, they'd be fading away in the sunset just like they did the last time we ended our rivalry with them.
but because they had their best season ever in history last year, of course they now want to play us again. if they were still 1-10, they'd be as quiet as silence itself...

monster......I already know we ain't playing the "lambs" in 2012. I have told everybody the main reason we are not playing them THIS year so I'm not gonna repeat myself.
Like I said maybe 2013 and maybe somebody will ask Hilton why, when, and where!
I do what I gotta do so I know the deal!!!!

We probably are not going to play them as long as Broadway is coach. Let's move on.

This wasn't just the best wssu season that wssu has had. Let's be honest with 13 victories this was the best season any hbcu has had since 1978! Ok :-) So wssu fans can talk the talk!

Decks, you are actually getting me wrong. I'm not basing this on emotion at all. I'm looking at this from a STRICTLY money perspective. I could give 2 shakes about playing WSSU to be honest. I watch aggie football regardless if WSSU is on the schedule. We could play High Point and I'm coming. I'm not your average Aggie fan though and neither is anyone on this board. This is all about maximizing our money and they give us the best option. They also let us keep the rivalry for our casual fans. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Why cant our relationship with WSSU just be unique on its own right? The only thing yall keep saying is, "They are div 2", "They are div 2" . Thats seems to be the emotional approach to me. Where's your financial reasons for not playing them over the next 2 years? The financial reason for not playing WSSU over the next two years is that we make just as much money playing VUL at home in front of 11,800 fans as we do hosting WSSU at home every other year. That extra home game also gives added value to season ticket packages. Seriously, playing WSSU on a home and home basis does nothing to improve our financials. I think a fair offer would be for them to come to Aggies Stadium every year with a guarantee in the range of $125k - $150k. when we play wssu in g'boro we make as much money as we do for homecoming... which is around 250-300k after expenses...

so let me get this straight. just because we can't find another opponent that brings in the same revenue, we should accept an "unfair" deal with wssu? so in other words, we should allow wssu to "pimp us" because we'll still make money? monster, obviously you're not a businessman. monster, that's not how business works. if you had negotiations with your neighbor to pay him $10 when you played video games at his house, but he only paid you $8 when he played at your house, would you accept it? c'mon, dude. you wouldn't do it, so why should we? its just business. business is about "leverage". if i can show you that i bring more money to you than you bring to me, then a 50/50 deal is unfair. i'm not suggesting what the split should be. i'm just suggesting that we should get more than 50% of whatever deal is agreed on. i'll leave it to the admins to figure out the details... Unfair? We are the ones trying to rip them. Not the other way around. we can just agree to disagree cause if you think bringing in 11K to play VUL is adding "value" then you'll never see what I'm seeing. Dont forget that some of that 11K is students and season tickets holders. The WSSU game brings in way more then double PAYING fans. Aint that what this is about, paying fans. We also have to pay VUL. NO WAY 2 of those games are equal WSSU in revenue, just no way. And $125-$150 is a fair number. About all we agree on. i think we payed vul 35-40k just to get a "W"...

Ima call it like I know it is.........One (just one) of the main reasons we will not play WSSU is because the decision-makers are scaarrrred of losing to them again rite now. Real talk! No they aren't. It is due to the fact that we need the money and playing in Winston every other year does not work towards that goal. YES... THEY ARE SCARED... BROADWAY SAID AS MUCH IN THE NEWSPAPER...

I could care less if we ever played WSSU again. Why are we wasting time even discussing this? We play whoever is on the schedule. If we happen to schedule them, then so be it, but until then let the AD do his job. isn't it the ADs job to bring in revenue.. or is that only eaves job.. ?
