when i thought of this topic i knew there would be some discussion.. didn't expect this much...
for me the bottom line is making money... what are the business decisions our university officials make that is going to generate revenue... so far i have not been amazed at our officials decision making...
when i see our chancellor sign a 3yr deal to play uncg in bball for free... i've seen it all... the acc schools that played uncg got paid... duke got 70k right off the top before they agreed to play uncg... but our dear chancellor agreed to play them for free... even when it was suppose to be our home gm this yr.. we didn't make a dime.. uncg kept all the money...
even though the a&t-uncg gms were their largest crowds... uncg was expecting bigger crowds for the a&t gms... but here is where uncg shot themselves in the foot... 1) they refused to come to corbett for at least 1 time & 2) they forced our chancellor to play them for free...
i don't want to see a&t officials make the same mistake uncg made... the fball gm with wssu is huge... if everyone swollows their pride & work for the coomon good ( TO MAKE MONEY) this gm could eventually be too big for g'boro...
THEN THERE WOULD MILLIONS TO BE MADE... !!!!!!!!

aggie monster... i see that you & few others get it... there are still others who are hung up on the fact that wssu is a div II school once again... but as long as broadway only has 30 scholarship players... that puts us in the div II school category... but lets be truthful... the main reason this gm is not on the schedule is because university officials are afraid of losing to wssu... broadway is afraid of losing to wssu... we would rather pay a vul 35-40k & get a win.. than play wssu & make 300k... my question is... why is everyone afraid of making money.. ?... fball has to start bringing in revenue... & there is no time to waste... how many track coaches can the administration afford to lose because the've gotten fed with never having any money to run their program... ??

here is a marketing idea i have... get sponsors to pay for gm day activities & acknowledge those sponsors during the gm... example..you would hear this over the pa system " THE POLICE & SECRUITY FOR TODAYS GM IS BEING SPONSORED BY KFC"...
or if a&t could get the entire gm day opperations sponsored... then at the end of the day you would have net profit...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good try, we worry about filling Bowman Gray, but dont care about going to Elon or Coastal. See, now thats just black on black crime. Lets fill Elon's stadium up, but crap on the other HBCU. Dont give me that div2 stuff either. Three letters for ya...VUL. Lets see, let's play Elon and Coastal and get nothing when we go there either and when they come to us the crowd is around 12-14K(if we are winning). But "Hell NO" to bringing in 21K playing WSSU just because they wont give us some of their gate when we go there. What!! Will we get some of Coastal's gate? The BCS payday makes sense if we can schedule one, but just not playing WSSU cause they might make some money is being high and mighty. Its also self destructive economically. And I didn't say sign a 4 or 6 year home and home. A simple 2 year home and home is fine. You can re-evaluate after year 2. Our history along with the nature of HBCU football leads me to believe that WSSU will still be our best option 2 years from now as well, but the 2 year deal satisfies people who think we'll be selling out Aggie Stadium without it being homecoming or NCCU....yeah right! wheels had worked out a deal with coastal... they are paying us 90k to come to them in sept.....

Or why not get the players tutored so our APR can go up. Then we can play an FBS school and get paid.

Truthseeker......I've changed my mine. We should not play them unless they concede with the home and home. Aggie Stadium, give them a payout thats fair and thats it. No home and home, no matter what.
The reason I've changed my mine is that I've found out some facts. Facts that I didn't have before. I always said if I had more facts I would see the other side(if the facts support it). Now I do. If Hayes doesn't want to come to A&T for a fair payout then forget it. Lets move on.
Lets concentrate on what Professor said, concentrate on a payday from a FBS school.

If they are going to remain in Division II, then we don't need to set foot in Bowman-Gray Stadium. Should they agree to that stipulation, I'd play them home-and-home in all other sports. That would be "The Compromise." And after the APR situation is fixed, there is no reason why A&T should not be able to schedule one (1) buget-boosting FBS football game each year for the rest of this decade to get a solid bottom-line in Athletics.

That fact that changed my mind had NOTHING to do with WSSU at all really. I NOW know that it's just better financially to play a VUL or JCSU or any other Div2 school that is willing to come here and get paid for every opener. Has nothing to do with them being Div2 or being scared. I thought before they were better financially for us(even with a home and home), but now I know otherwise. I still think they should be offered a DECENT amount before anyone else. But now that's all on Hayes to accept. Out of our hands if he doesn't. Now my stand now is we should at least have a FBS opponent every other year and pay a Div2 school to come in if we cant schedule a FBS school. We can do both with 3 non-conference games.

How would we generate that revenue in years when we played in Winston?

i was watching the bball gm between north dakota & north dakota state... they just started back playing each other in bball... reason being is that NDS made the move 1st to D-I leaving ND behind... now ND is D-1... BUT.....
ND can't get NDS back on the fball schedule... don't know why... maybe its hard to schedule around their money gms...
